Phony massage therapist accused of sexual battery locked in standoff with BR police

BATON ROUGE - Police are in a standoff with a fake massage therapist who allegedly assaulted a woman at a local massage parlor.
A heavy police presence was first reported on Amarillo Street around 1 p.m. Thursday.
Police confirmed to WBRZ that the suspect is Roderick Birks, who's accused of sexual battery at the Massage Emporium near downtown. An arrest warrant was signed for Birks Wednesday in connection with that incident.
The victim told police she made a last minute appointment at the business last month after she began experiencing leg pain. During the appointment, she claims Birks fondled her genitalia and then grabbed her breast after she pulled away from him.
While investigating the encounter, police said it was discovered that Birks was using a forged license from the Louisiana Board of Massage Therapy.

I have said it before, but massages (especially on women) is a bizarre commonality in this country.
You have soccer moms that are in most aspects, very modest, even around their husbands, that strip down to nothing more than their panties and let complete stranger men with a “massage therapy degree” rub all over their bodies in a room away from anyone else.
When you really think about it, it’s crazy.
