The article said "municipal trash service". Does this mean it is a city service that is "free" to residents because their taxes paid for it? The union workers are refusing to execute on a taxpayer funded service?

Citizens there should not pay another dime in taxes until this is resolved, and even then should have a percentage refunded to account for the lack of services provided.

That ain’t how it’s going to work.

We were paying for twice weekly garbage pickup, but since China virus, we were only getting once weekly.

Nola “renegotiated” our trash service last year and promised it would be better for residents.

We still have just once a week collection and we’re paying almost twice as much as before. That’s not even mentioning all the other shady shite that went down with it involving Destroya.

All that to say: there will be a winning side to this in Philly, but it won’t be the residents.

Whether or not you agree or disagree with unions, this is the outcome of economic problems. Once the cost of everything goes up and the pay for jobs doesn’t increase, the workers paychecks only go so far. While i agree that unions are an issue, i also see the side of it where the workers eventually have to say, it’s becoming impossible to pay bills on what we make.

Yup, we can’t hate the Biden Admin enough for having the bill printer working overtime and creating such a terrible inflation bubble

Not a good look by the Union.....

a city the size of Philly will not have its trash completely removed by a handful of "volunteers"

The union needs the support of the public, attacking an individual making a few extra bucks doesnt help this....

....also, it is not the '60s during peek union power....

It’s 2025. I wouldn’t assume people are on the side of the union…especially when the garbage starts to pile up.

Unions are an economic problem. They get wages above the market rate because of collective bargaining and shite like these strikes. So we can blame unions all day long for economic problems.

I will be disappointed if this does not become the plot of an episode of It's Always Sunny.

Literally Season 8, Ep 2. Sunny

While the city of Philadelphia's garbage men are on strike, Dennis, Mac, and Charlie decide to start a trash pick up business. And while being a big success, they must find out where to put this newly picked up trash.

Protect the lazy and bad employees at the expense of the good ones
Friend of mine has worked as an RN for over 35 years. He told me the story about a nurse that made so many mistakes with patients that one actually died. She was union, so they just transferred her, where she made more serious mistakes and had to be transferred again. How anyone could possibly support a union today is beyond belief. Have my wages garnished to pay union dues so the union execs can make millions and live like kings, and never once doing any actual labor.

Imagine a world where complaining about people picking up trash is somehow seen as a PR win.
