This. Dr. sends script electronically. Local owned pharmacy delivers for free. They would probably bring me a 2 liter to wash down my pills if I called them. It's like dominoes pizza for drugs

The Walgreens in West Monroe at the foot Thomas Road has a as pharmacy staff is about as helpful as terminal cancer.

That is BS. Ur doctor is cautious because of ahole lawsuits.

At the very least you get three prescriptions from him each visit. Drop them off. Have one filled. Leave the other two. A few days before you about to run out. Cal the pharmacy and say hey fill my next prescription. Viola. No wait time.

Rite aid . All of mine are on courtesy refill ( I think that's what they call it) I get text messages when it's ready and every time I've gone with a new prescription the longest iv head to wait is 15 minutes. And 2 of the pharmacists are sexy as h***

Mine always take like ten minutes tops when I have a paper one but when the doc sends it in it's ready to pick up when I get there. Maybe your pharmacy just sucks.

I'm a pharmacist, although not retail.
Your expectations are fine for a super slow, appropriately staffed pharmacy if yours is the only prescription there. Good luck finding that situation. Ultimately, it's not fast food, and prescriptions need to be filled precisely.
Regarding automation, automation in pharmacy is helpful, but not perfect. There are problems with computerized order entry, and 99% of the "decision support" provided to me during the course of my job is just stupid shite that wastes my time.
ETA: In Europe, most of their medications are prepackaged, and you were paying cash. Takes a lot of bullshite out of the equation.

f your doctor isn't 80 years old and can use a computer he can electronically send your prescription in. He probably won't tho because he wants you to pay him every month or three months for an office visit. Take it up with him.

I know what it says. You aren't following what I'm saying. An electronic prescription, as long as the doctor has signed up for the ability to do so with the FDA and has met all the requirements, is the same as a written prescription. You don't have to physically go to the doctors office and pick up the prescription.

He can send three prescriptions to the pharmacy with a "do not fill until" date. As I said earlier, if he wants to you come back to the office for a visit every three months that's between you and him.

Yeah, they check and triple check the pills and amounts. I've never been given the wrong pills, prescription, or amount

Easier said than done if you have medications you must take daily and ever leave the city you live in. If I have to get my prescriptions filled when I'm not near home, the national chains can fill them at any store without having to transfer the prescription.

bro, we got 2 speeds.... fast and right... which one you want?

What am I missing that makes counting pills so damned complicated
counting pills isn't complicated... checking to make sure you aren't going to go into a fricking coma because of drug interactions and allergies IS complicated, and we do that shite BEFORE filling... getting the insurance right, and billing it right then and there (unlike an MD's office, where they bill later...) and making sure it's the correct price for you IS complicated...
if all we did was count pills and make $150K/yr, why the frick you ain't doing it?
Posted on 2/4/17 at 3:24 pm to SlapahoeTribe
I've never waited more than 10 minutes ever.

The Indians have taken over this industry and they work at a snails pace.
Spin Off: I went to Sport Clips today and one cut my hair, bitch couldn't speak a word of English but she gave a good MVP and a happy ending

is what seems to cause most of the delays. They have to work on the orders for the dumbasses in front of you who forgot they got new insurance at the beginning of the year and didn't bring the card in, or someone who is trying to renew the prescription before the insurance company says it's time, etc.
Yeah, frick all of this. I have the same tricare insurance ive had for 20 years. Why does it take an hour and a half to get motrin?
Posted on 2/4/17 at 3:42 pm to SlapahoeTribe
Because you're not the only person, who is getting their prescription filled. A lot, if not most CVS pharmacies fill 400+ prescriptions per day.

Never takes more than 10-15 minutes unless they are really busy. You must go to a crappy pharmacy.
