The statue in JS87's picture doesn't look like the one in NOLA

I think it is. There is a guy sitting on Lee's shoulder, which makes it look like he's raising his arm.

"The plan for the Lee monument was ambitious. New Orleans architect John Roy was secured to erect a massive earthen foundation, topped by a granite pyramid base and then capped with a sixty-foot tall marble column. New York artist Alexander Doyle was commissioned to create the bronze statue of Lee himself, for the price of $10,000 (1884 dollars, which equates to nearly a quarter of a million dollars in 2015). The statue was cast in bronze in six different sections. It stands sixteen and a half feet tall, and weighs over three tons."

The best part is that Mitch is probably at home with more security than what Trump has watching this shite like the rest of us on his computer.

This attempt looks even more pitiful than the first. I am starting to see signs of exhaustion in the poor bastards up in that crane.

I just love the fact that in a city that is majority black and liberal, Mitch is still too cowardly and chickenshit to actually face the voters and actually talk to people about his statue bullshite.

The man is a pathetic opportunist chickenshit with no balls whatsoever.

I'd bet money he isn't watching at all. He probably isn't even in town. All of this week and last week, he has been traveling to speaking engagement, conferences, writing op-eds, giving interviews, etc. None of which happened in the city

I could have ordered them a latching hook and d-shackle on Amazon prime and had it delivered by now. Let's see if they learn from the first 350 mistakes.

Gotta get all those freebies of taxpayer funded vacations in while he still can. He only has a year and six months left.

He won't have security when he's no longer mayor.

But, the problem with someone mercy killing the little shite is that they'd probably stick him up there where Lee is.

https://www.nola.com/politics/index.ssf/2017/05/beauregard_confederate_monumen.html

quote:

A change of heart, a forgotten man -- Beauregard fought hard to preserve the Old South, including the institution of slavery. But after the war his reputation as a hero of the Confederacy was forever damaged by his outspoken work for human rights. As part of a coalition of prominent white and black New Orleanians, he not only argued to give black people voting rights but also pushed for integrated schools, public places and transportation.

"I am persuaded that the natural relation between the white and colored people is that of friendship," Beauregard said in an address published in July 1873 in newspapers including The New Orleans Republican and The Daily Picayune. "I am persuaded that their interests are identical; that their destinies in this state, where the two races are equally divided, are linked together; and that there is no prosperity for Louisiana which must not be the result of their cooperation.

"I am equally convinced that the evils anticipated by some men from the practical enforcement of equal rights are mostly imaginary, and that the relation of the races in the exercise of these rights will speedily adjust themselves to the satisfaction of all."

The movement generated little public support and quickly collapsed.
So, he fought in the war, and after the war adopted the values of the USA.....and he's coming down because he fought in the confederacy? WTF. I hadn't done much research about him until now and finding this just pisses me off.

Mitch is a fricking idiot.
