Just went in there and the 2 dogs we were interested in were (french bulldog) $6,000 and Welsh corgi $3,000. Both were 4x the amount Google says they should be

I would not buy a dog from a pet store.

Or you could not be a twat and go to the shelter and get one for $75.

You can get a French Bulldog for less than $2,000. Absolutely ridiculous for that breed

Do not buy a dog, adopt. But especially do not buy a dog from PetLand.

My only regret is that I have but one upvote to give.

3000.00 would rescue 300 dogs from our local rescue
That includes spay / neuter & 3 months of heart worm prevention

I got a pure kitten from a shelter. Worth big bucks.

last 2 dogs have been from shelters, would never, ever buy from a breeder again.

The first, black lab was an absolute joy, from beginning till cancer took him.

The chocco lab/aussie mix has been a godsend to my wife and i, she has given us more joy then we could ever give her.

Buddy paid a lot for pure breds, 1 died from an illness it had while still with breeder, other was borderline retarded from inbreeding.

If i want to pay a shite load of money for a borderline retard, i'll adopt a Millennial.

Hmmmmm, not really. French Bulldogs are high dollar. I would be pretty skeptical of a bloodline where the pups are only a couple grand.

I wouldn't buy from a franchise store. Find breeders online.

Puppyfinder.com is the best imo but it costs money to use (not very expensive like 30 bucks). I think Petfinder is free.

The AKC website has a list of breeders.

Don't buy from Petland. No proper breeder would allow their puppies to go unsold, let alone to a pet store chain like that.

And avoid the "adopt, don't buy" guilt tripping crowd. Rescuing a dog is obviously a good thing, but I always find it amusing how the pro-rescue crowd seem to ignore the millions of homeless children in the world to have their own, yet mock those who would choose the genetics of their pet.

Yeah, and people don't understand dogs. Purebreds have more predictable temperaments. People go to rescue a dog and everything is fine until they find out it's good aggressive, anxious, etc. Then they give the dog away. Or, they buy a puppy and then give it away saying, "I didn't realize it was going to be this big!"

People who truly do their research and buy a dog they can truly care for are good owners. People who buy dogs because they look cool or cute are typically bad owners who end up having to give the dog away.

YOU have to be right for the dog, not the other way around. And that is easier to determine with purebreds than mutts.

If I pulled up to a corner and saw a homeless dog and a homeless human, I would help the dog 100/100 times. frick a human.
