Men used to let men know when they stepped over a line. Based on this thread, it seems avoiding confrontation at all costs is the play these days. Not sure that is as cool and manly as the wimps in here are trying to spin it, but what exactly did Watson do that was out of line, other than have the audacity to react to something differently than the internet autistic nihilists have decided is the correct way?

Maybe it was a joke, but there’s a time and place for those types of jokes. During a TV broadcast is not the time nor place.

Yeah seems like he instinctively says it bc that’s what he would do if he is just hanging with his buddies. Even if Watson doesn’t care, people will still probably make a deal of it bc of the audience

When Burns said that's not what your wife texted me, I took it as she was telling Burns she agreed with his take about Watson's Suit.

I'm in the camp where it's poor form to make a joke about someone's wife. This wasn't in the locker room or a golf course, it was on a halftime show where that sort of thing isn't appropriate. Wife and Mom jokes are something you probably shouldn't do, unless you really know the audience, whether that's the audience watching or your cohost.

It was clearly a joke, although an insensitive one. Some people are super sensitive about certain topics.

It reminds me of the Will Smith/Chris Rock fracas, except this comment was actually intended fully as a playful insult.

It’s weird that Watson got so offended. Nevertheless, it’s inappropriate to make that joke, especially in that setting.

Two observations:

1) Rough and tumble social media discourse is bleeding out into real life.

2) Those sports talk shows are getting way too informal in general. They’ve gone about as far as they can go, except for their attire, without being offensive to at least someone.

I prefer a little more professionalism, even if casual in general.

Not really. Smith's wife has a real problem. Nobody thinks Watson's wife is fooling around with that dweeb.

He demonstrated his insecurity. It's not surprising.

That's actually a good setting for it. It's a guys show with jocularity. If Watson wants a safe space he can jump to one of those morning gossip shows.

How? What did he do that you witnessed that brought you to this conclusion?

You're correct, but we are posting as if he got upset.

Whatever he did was in private as it should be, and it clearly wasn't a tense situation given the pic Burns tweeted after.

Being upset about that joke being told on live TV isn't a sign of insecurity. He didn't fly off the handle on live TV as an insecure person might. He didn't really say anything actually. It's a curious thing seeing people fill in the gaps with just the right kind of assumptions that allow them to signal their manly virtues.

Bull

shite.

TV is the best place. If you ever watched Shaq & Charles you'd be clutching your pearls. Those two are way more over the lines than burns.

It also use to help correct our behavior when we were 12, because someone punched us in the Fing face to being an a-hole. We haven't let that happen for more than 2 decades, and here we are.

But never touch a performer (comedian). I don't care what they say, if it's funny, it's allowed. Will Smith can GTFOH.

Jesus Christ. It was obvious they were joking around. Is this not how all dudes joke around with each other?

How did he frick around and find out? Watson knew it was a joke.. But its good click bait so of course it was made into a story.

GTFO with your "God fearing" shite. that is irrelevant and just dumb. the joke was that his wife text peter criticizing the jacket. that's it. if he was offended he was a bitch.
