I’m calling bullshite at 47% of Oklahoma’s residents being out-of-state transplants. It’s one of the poorest states in the country and job opportunities there are shite. They’re the West Virginia of the Great Plains.

Oklahoma has O&G and two decently sized cities in OKC and Tulsa. Also, doesn’t OK have a good sized Hispanic population?

Not surprising. We are one of the only states with a unique culture left, and we should protect it.

I grew up in La but moved away for the entirety of my first career (25 yrs). Moved back in 2021. Not sure if this is the same or do you mean never to have left the State?

This is such a flawed way to look at it. It’s high in Louisiana because nobody from other states moves there..because the politicians and urban demographic makes it suck. I have about 5 good buddies from my Baton Rouge graduating class and 1 of us still lives there. I would have stayed there if “they” didn’t make everything suck so bad.

Growing up in the Atlanta suburbs in the 70s and 80s, no one in my elementary school had 2 parents born in Georgia.
Many of those transplant parents are still alive and in state.
Despite my saying that "After 5 years, you have been in Atlanta longer than half of the people you meet in Atlanta", I met my wife who has 2 parents from the state (and their parents from the state).

Most corporate jobs i have been in the past 25 years have 2 hubs. East Coast and West Coast for handling time zone transitions.
But I have worked for a few companies who consolidated into a central US hub strategy. Those call center/large office locations have often found themselves in OKC or Plano TX.

pretty much in traditional engineering....outside of a couple tech hot spots....we make more along the gulf coast from houston to nola than anywhere else. I have looked at other places to move....the salaries arent close to covering the difference in COL and in 99% of cases its way lower salary
I get messages from recruiters almost daily with job offers....unless it involves a shite ton of travel, all the jobs are at best 75% of what I make in in most cases its 50% less
im not going to take a 25-30% pay cut just to say I dont live in LA. Especially when all the desirable areas are going to have much high COL
if you make money in LA, LA can be great. Rather be living on the beach but LA aint bad at all if you make money.
