I don't think anyone, even cyclists, want bike lanes on major thoroughfares.
No, but governments seem to like them on teh busiest roads they can find. As a cyclist I have to laugh at some of the roads chosen for bike lanes. Often they go from no where to no where with no ability to connect to.

Totally different kind of biking.

They are pretty much the only tracks available for cyclists. Most do let rec cyclists ride any bike on the apron inside the Cote d'Azur but some don't.

opposite here

they love to find unused roads that are wide enough that they can just slap some paint down and congratulate themselves on adding more bike lanes and pretend to be a "progressive" city

Don't ride your bike on busy roads during rush hour traffic is all I ask.

There's a massive difference in people using downtown bike lanes to commute to work and Jerry_KOM_KING flying through downtown at 7 am trying to get that next strava ride uploaded

I first came across bikers at LSU. Those mfs would be flying through people without any regard for anyone else. I soon thereafter realized anyone who rides a bike is most likely a queer

So then those users can pay a tax for that

You're assuming that they don't already.

We pay taxes for soccer fields, football fields, public hunting land, baseball fields, all kinds of shite. Why do these threads always drag out the same retarded arguments?

For cyclists in Idaho, red lights should be treated as stop signs and stop signs as yield signs.

The problem with this is you all act like you have the right of way and that its your turn no matter who stopped first.

When in reality, I'd have no issues with any bike riders if they simply stood by one mantra:

"If I get hit by a car, I lose 100% of the time".

Instead, all these a-hole bike riders act like cars should do everything to avoid them including knowing when the bike riders won't follow the rules of the road. Including, riding well under the speed limit.

Well if a stop sign is treated as a yeild sign, by law, they have the right of way.

Maximum allowed speed, you are under no obligation to drive or ride that fast.

It's a fricking speed LIMIT, not a goddamn speed minimum.

To be fair, that's because those are usually the most direct paths...

Let's play devil's advocate to your idea, who takes the slower and longer route whether by car or bike?

Let's say as a mayor I make the route that's longer and not as fast the "bike friendly route" with a nice bike path. Want to take a guess at how many bike riders then do 2 things:
1.) Take the more direct less bike friendly path anyway
2.) Complain that the bike friendly path is the longer less direct route

Unfortunately this had lead me to zwifting (inside smart trainer riding) and only mtb these days. Judging by the general population on cycling in the US, no other real choice. I do hope to get out on group rides on the weekend, but solo weeekly road rides are out of the question for me.

Perhaps someone should mention this issue to Gravy, he could include it in his campaign platform.
