I know plenty that left after college for jobs and then ended up back in BR. I don't know many that left later with a family and then went back.

same here.

BR sucks compared to when i was growing up in the 80s. I understand people are fed up and want out. But I also understand the ones who call it home. The only thing that annoys me is when ppl complain about traffic being the factor...unless you're moving to the country and not a city the same size or bigger traffic will be an issue.

Moved to Tallahassee and May and have been very happy with the lack of need to look over my shoulder to see if a homeless man would rob me and not feeling like I would be the victim of the I-10 Serial Killer

BR's traffic situation is significantly worse than that of most other cities

I know plenty living around Houston...some hate it some love it. I also know some living in CO and the feedback is the people are strange bc it's a melting pot of many different cultures, the food sucks, but the scenery is awesome.

Drive to lafayette and experience some of that traffic...and Houma. You would be surprised. I also know how to avoid traffic in BR. The bridge sucks and I deal with it everyday.

I'm not trying to debate you because anywhere is better than Baton Rouge in 2022, but I would like to point out the irony of you mentioning Tallahassee as a safe haven from serial killers. Please tell me you know the connection between FSU and the most famous serial killer in American history? The serial killer that all other serial killers are benchmarked to.

Honestly it’s because I have season tickets to football, basketball, and baseball. Also like to hunt and fish, but I think enjoyment from those is fading by living here.

I moved to Huntsville for work and really enjoyed it. After a year there, I moved to Mountain Brook (Birmingham), AL and absolutely love it. Most people drive through North Birmingham so they see the worst that the city has to offer. However, Mountain Brook, parts of Vestavia and Liberty Park are great places. I am currently in Liberty Park because I’m building a house in Mountain Brook so I’ve had a chance to live in both areas. I’d recommend either.
From Birmingham, we are 2.5hrs from Nashville, 2hrs from Atlanta, 4hrs from the beach, 4.5hrs from Nola and 5hrs from BR. All of our family loves to visit because it’s a great place with great shopping and really good restaurants. We also have an airport that has direct flights to Denver, Dallas, Atlanta, Houston and we can be in Nola pretty quick if need be. If you want to watch LSU, you are 1hr from ttown, 1.5hr from auburn, 2.5hrs from Ole Miss and Miss St, 2.5hrs from Vandy, 2.5hrs from Athens, 2hrs from Atlanta and 5hrs frolic BR. We also have the SEC tournament here for baseball.
I don’t think you could go wrong with Mountain Brook, Vestavia, Liberty Park or Huntsville. If you love outdoors, definitely look in to Huntsville.

THIS!!!

Im currently in the process of moving out of BR and moving to BHAM (Vestavia) for work. Work is obviously moving me there but we are really excited about the location, the hills/views, public schools and safety (in bham suburbs). The recent crime in BR, poor public schools, traffic, etc. has taken a toll on us. I am sad to leave the people and LSU but as mentioned above, i will still be able to come in for a game or 2 and will be even closer to multiple away games!

maybe the Bayou Corne sinkhole and the flood of 2016 had more to do with my wanting to leave than weather and crime. I was certainly more happy when I had a camp and a non flooded house

Baton Rouge has 3.5 times the homicides per capita as Tallahassee. There is no comparison

That's exactly what I said, you're just repeating exactly my point that anywhere in the US is better than Baton Rouge right now...per capita.

However, I thought it was funny AF that you had no idea on the infamous connection between Tallahassee and Ted Bundy, or you would have certainly phrased your post better. That's all.

Knoxville is about the same size and traffic is nowhere close to as bad as BR. Gamedays being one exception.
