Grunting actually helps
maybe if you could deadlift more than 225lbs you would know this.

You give him way too much credit. He probably can't do 135 lbs.

I have my music blaring, so I don't normally hear it, but we have one guy who grunts with even low weight. LOUDLY. He's pretty strong so it's completely unnecessary to grunt like he does.

Perhaps a Planet Fitness subscription is more to your liking.
They don't even have squat racks, so you don't even have to worry about the douchebags screaming while doing curls in it.

I've read this before, but I don't grunt at all and my dead is 585. Wonder if it would get me over the 600 wall

Newton's Third Law. In order to accelerate you have to leave something behind. Drop a deuce while you're deadlifting, it'll help you get over that hump.

Like I always say, it's just weakness leaving the body. Don't hold it in.

So... someone is butthurt other people lift more than them, since what you described is clearly not the case

Weight lifter screaming cannot compete with Maria Sharapova's tennis grunting.

An aerobics instructor at the gym I used 20 years ago used to make frick noises when she strained in the gym during a set.
This was a good looking but slightly thick girl. I'm sure she blew up after kids. But then she had all the right curves.
Guys in the gym had to walk out. Lol. For fear of laughing, being caught staring, or wood in workout shorts. Remember what men's workout shorts were in the mid 90's.

Just part of the Facebook/attention whore society we all live in.

LOL. Not sure if you know who Ronnie Coleman is but he says this a lot after every rep along with about a zillion other corny phrases. I guess it works since he won like 6 Olympias.
I am guilty of making a grunt after a heavy rep or 2 but I really try to keep that shite at a minimum since it obviously attracts the attention of people like the OP. In fact, I train with several power-lifters and the unwritten rule on grunting in a set is you better be damn near at your max weight or giving birth for it to be acceptable or you run the risk of getting hazed for it.

When someone does that at the gym, I walk over during their selfie break, knock out a few reps silently with whatever weight they were using, and walk away.
Now, if I'm deadlifting or or leg pressing anything over 450, I'm loudly exhaling while lifting. I'm not trying to be loud, I'm just pushing air out at the pace that I'm moving.

I do that every time I hit the submit button on a post.

Idgaf what you do brah. Do what you gotta do to lift that iron.
Lift and let lift, brah.
Lift and let lift
All of this.
In no way shape or form will I be like that for every set, but if I'm pulling out the last rep on a heavy deadlift set you better believe I'm probably gonna let out a little grunt. frick anyone who cares.
