This happened to me years ago when living in houston. Like a few others, I had no idea it was a thing either. It confused the shite out of me so I just drove off

I’m miserable because I don’t want the people behind me feeling like they are responsible to pay for someone else’s meal, even though they might be struggling?

Meet me at the Sonic drive-thru you little punk

Random acts of kindness are trashy. I wish people would just rob people in drive throughs at gun point like God intended.

Stop being lazy by going through the drive thru and get your fat arse out of the truck and walk in. Most of the time you’re in and out quicker than the fatties sitting in their cars.

Problem solved

I sometimes order a cup of water in the drive-thru then give the cashier $100 to pay for the next guests following me until it is used up.

Once I was on a road trip with about 10 people - 2 cars. I paid for the car behind me (our friend that we’re with us). Whenever they got to the window, the Wendy’s worker charged them again. Never doing that again

Eh, it's not free if you're expected to pay for the person behind you. Actually it could be more expensive if the people behind you have a larger order.

This happened to me multiple times when I lived in Franklin, TN. It usually ended up costing me more money. The pressure of being the one to break the chain is real.

It’s like not forwarding those chain emails back in high school

All you have to say is no when they ask if you want to pay for the car behind you.

Had only heard of this until one day I was a passenger with a co-worker who had someone ahead pay for us. He tells the cashier how nice that was and he would pull back around, come in and pay for a couple of cars behind him but at the counter. He pulls around, keeps trucking and gives me a smirk... "that will bottleneck the drive-thru for a solid 5 minutes before they know what's happening."
