So basically if you grow up in a house that watches Fox News

The book is meh. Good fast read and interesting. It's her memooir and she can present it how she wants, but my gripes were:
Spoilers ahead.
It's clear her dad is schizophrenic and one her brothers is abusive...so yeah no wonder her household is a freaking mess. Kudos to her for making it out and becoming "educated". If anything, this continues to show that you certainly make something of yourself no matter what your background is despite what some groups of people say otherwise.
She described a lot of struggles adjusting to college in the beginning...which is fair, just never understood why she never reached out to her grandparents/mom side of the family or Tyler who had previously went through grad school for advice and such, consider she relied on him to get into college to begin with.
Lastly, she blames her father a lot for her struggles. It took the damn near entire book for her to place some fault with her mother...who was raised in a normal family and became an enabler of sorts for their quack father lifestyle.

Yes and she had to suffer because of it. The whole Ruby Ridge thing seemed to push him over the edge or he just so happened to get worse around that time.
The one brother really did some horrible things to her. Dragged her by her hair and shoved her face in the toilet.. And evidently the house was never cleaned so the toilet was filthy.

I can't imagine having to come to the realization that everything I was taught since a kid was completely inaccurate.
I had a completely traditional American upbringing with church, school etc. and I have come to the realization that 90% of the things I was taught growing up are utter bullshite.

Are you being serious? 90% (I know its an estimate) is a lot. Are you talking about anything specifically? Religion? Politics?
Posted on 7/28/19 at 7:51 pm to OweO
Religion, politics, history. All whitewashed by the powers that be to keep people in line for power and control.

It's all a scheme to make you insècure, become a machine for someone else's profit and keep you in debt by buying a bunch of shite you don't need.

The biggest part of the US economy is retail. So in order for our economy to hold strong, it depends on people spending rather than saving.
