I have a theory that the acceptance of littering by so many residents in this state has its roots in Mardi Gras. Mardi Gras encourages the throwing of trash on the street, and people to just leave it at their feet before moving on. It's celebrated.
All this to say that I was born and grew up in the New Orleans area, and still live here.

I wish people wouldn't throw their garbage in the bed of my truck either. It's disgusting. It would be like throwing a McDonald's sack or Popeyes box in their front seat if their windows were down. Trashy fricks.

i was at a privately owned park near my house (it's an old plantation that has farm anumals and stuff. the people that own it just let anyone come and play, take pictures on the grounds, etc.
and as i'm walking up this guy is getting into his car just throws an empty cup on the ground next to it. i mean, the owners use their money to keep the place up and open to people and that's how you treat it?
fricking trash.

How many times have you actually seen someone throw garbage out their window?
I think I could count on one hand. The real litterers are the guys who throw beer cans, water bottles and other trash in their truck beds. Those pretty much all eventually fly out and become litter.

About the only time I've said what I've wanted to say to littering asshats. At an LSU game years ago and this 50-ish gent tossed a piece of paper or something on the ground. I pick it up and catch up to him about 20 feet away to give it back to him with the Pollyanna "oh I think you must have dropped this, I'm sure you don't want to leave it." He sheepishly drops it in a trash can nearby. Lazy arse.

Lived in a fraternity house for 2 years. Not surprising. Amazing fricking retards I lived with leave trash in the parlor/living room area and can't clean up after themsleves. Walk in and see dip bottles everywhere, drunk food left out all over from the night before. If people can't keep where they live at clean, then most don't have a problem tossing a bag or cup out the window. It's ashame

Living in a place where you see garbage on the side of the roads is trashy. Seriously, what kind of 3rd world ghetto are you living in where you see trash and litter on the sides of the roads???

In Tokyo in the mid 80's (when I smoked), I tossed cigarette butt on the sidewalk. A local walked up to me, pointed at the butt, and I think he was balling me out in Japanese (he was pretty emotional). I picked up the butt and tossed it in a trash can. I looked around and noticed there was no trash anywhere to be seen. The streets and sidewalks there are almost spotless. Those Japanese took pride in keeping their surroundings clean. I was impressed.
