My wife is a nag. Mowing the law is the most peaceful part of my weekend.

I work in an office for the majority of my work week. On the weekends, I enjoy getting out side and getting my hands in the soil so to speak.

I set the pace on how long are how hard I work. Get tired, start sweating, beer break.

But the real reward comes when I pull into my driveway. The sense of personal pride and appreciation for the time and effort never gets old.

Just live long enough, you will see one day what I am talking about.

I mow my grass and weed-eat every 5-7 days and hate every single minute while I am doing it. It is a necessary evil. My yard looks just as good as the neighbors who live at the nurseries seeing how much money they can spend

No it fricking doesn't

Just did a couple of minor curb appeal projects, repainted front steps, repainted front door and trim, little landscaping. I was sitting on the steps this week drinking a coldie, watching the kids ride their bikes, and some random lady (no pics) walking her dog shouted out “Looking good, nice work”. As a middle-age white guy that’s about as good as it gets.

You can be pretty damned sure what the inside of a home looks like by the looks of the out side of the home.
Hell yes I take pride and enjoy working on my lawn.
Some people are some lazy, nasty folks.

Instant gratification that doesn’t harm you like sweets or alcohol or drugs. Much of what we do now requires long-term gratification. Like projects at work or saving money, etc. We need an instant gratification from time to time.

So, if I need to feel instantly good about something I can go do some yard work. Also, it is nice to be outside in the sun and getting exercise.

I pulled weeds for the 1st time the other day. I am fit and athletic and I despised it.

My yard crew loves to do yard work for money. I love to enjoy my yard. It's a win-win.

What is it that people LOVE to do yard work? Does it give you an erection at the end of it and you have no energy at the end of the day to do anything else.

I like being outside, a lot of what I so has exercise value, riding my mower is relaxing, and afterwards I get to admire my work. What would I do with my time if I paid someone else to do it, my neighbor lays up and drinks beer watching TV while a crew does his yard, seems like a waste of money just to be lazy.

Riding the mower is only about 20% of my yard work.

I work from home a good bit so during the spring/summer/fall, I’ll usualy take a long lunch and go out there and cut/trim/pull weeds in the flower beds. I have a small lot so it doesn’t take half the day, it’s good exercise, and it gets me some fresh air out in the sun, which is a nice break from staring at a computer screen. I like the smell of cut grass, soil and wood chips. Always have.

Nothing wrong with paying someone to do it. I pay a service to do weed n feed because I don’t want to be bothered with that. But I do the other stuff myself for the reasons above.

I enjoy doing yard work and drinking copious amounts of cold beer while doing said work. I take pride in my home and appreciate the way it looks after I cut the grass, trim the hedges, etc.

Because they couldn’t possibly love both right? No way they could enjoy yard work AND their family?

Mowing my yard with a push mower satisfies my OCD.
