Very simple way to solve that problem. Put a lock box on the thermostat in the office.

Until people keep bothering you for the key or break it.

My gf is the worst at this. Go to bed “I’m freezing” so I bump the heat up from 67 to 69.
She wakes up at 3am “I’m burning up I can’t sleep like this you gotta turn that off”
And not turn it down, turn it off. Wake up 3 hours later it’s 55 in the house
I think I got it figured out though. Vent is right above the bed, I leave heat on 68 and keep bedroom vent closed with room door open. She hasn’t complained since

If a small office, go flip the breaker.
It is a small office, but we're also in an old building with crappy insulation especially around the windows. So I have some sympathy because temp control in here is horrendous. It's more just the quest for instant gratification that annoys me. And the fact that in a few hours once the sun is fully out and hitting the building, she's going to get hot and likely turn on the AC. I've explained to her that turning the heat up that high in the morning is one reason it gets so hot later in the morning, but it's futile.

True but anyone who breaks it is a dumb shite to do something like that in an office.

A few days ago, when the temperature was up into the 70's, I got home from work and noticed that it was unusually cool in the house. I look at the thermostat on my front unit, and the AC is on with the thermostat set to 68. I check the back unit, and the AC is on with the thermostat set to 66.
My son's idiot fiance had simply turned both units from off to cool and the thermostats were still set to temperatures from the last time we'd run the heat.

72 isn't as bad as those who will crank it up to 90 thinking it will somehow warm up faster.
Guy was in disbelief when I told him the air coming out of the vent is either at a set cold or a set heat. The thermostat does NOT regulate the heat/cool of the air coming out the vent but rather the overall average of the room temp. Just because the thermostat is set at 72 doesn't in any way effect the temp of the air coming out of the vent except as to whether it is hot/cold in general.
The concept of gases confuses people when it is essentially the same as water. Mix some hot/cold water with room temp water to either raise/lower the overall temp of the glass contents.

I worked for a 60 year old surgeon who would turn thermostat 15 degrees either way. He couldn't understand the concept either.

My BIL’s entire family sucks at thermostats and ac in general. He thinks you turn it on until you get cool, then turn it off until you get hot.
In the summer, we have the windows open early but still have the ac set. When it kicks in, we close the window. If he sees a window open he turns off the ac because we’re “wasting energy”.
Of course, these are the same people who think you shouldn’t run ceiling fans with the ac because it pulls the air down so the room gets hot faster.
It’s not just women who don’t understand thermostats and ac.

this is actually true, a ceiling fan pulls energy(heat,) in from every crack and crevasse it can suck it in from, I still like them though

This was a never ending battle with my ex-wife. Until the day we divorced she still believed the car and house would cool off faster if you put the temperature on 50. It was one of many reasons I divorced her.

It's a target not a throttle.
That explains it to 99% of people.

No.
Improperly pressurized spaces affect air being pulled/pushed through cracks.
Fans simply make air disturbance.

An old fellow I knew many years ago was the personnel manager for a big shipping company HQed in the Trade Mart in NO. I guess nowadays he'd be the V.P. of Human Resources.
He had your same problem with many people complaining about the temperature and adjusting the thermostat daily.
He finally had a new thermostat installed in his office in an out of the way spot over a weekend disconnecting the old one leaving it as a fake. His complaints fell to near zero but people continued to happily adjust the fake thermostat.

I prefer the fans on to circulate the air. Our house gets very stuffy with no air movement. I’ll take my chances with the fans on.
