Does this drive anyone else crazy? I'm constantly battling my wife at home, and the admin assistant here at the office. Yes, it's cold this morning. I was the first one here, and noticed the thermostat was set to 66. I bumped it up to 68 to knock the chill out of the air. Admin assistant got here a few minutes later and cranked it up to 72 because she was cold. This is the same admin assistant that will complain in a few hours that she's hot and turn the AC on and set it to 68 when the projected high here today is low 40's.

I turned the thermostat back down to 68 and told her to just give it 15-20 minutes and it should be comfortable in here.

72 isn't as bad as those who will crank it up to 90 thinking it will somehow warm up faster.

I always have to explain to my wife that 68 with the heater on is much different than 68 with the ac on

Well, that's been my experience for the most part but didn't really want to make this a woman bashing thread.

you mean like when my MIL will come to my house in the summer and drop my thermostat to 58 because its hot even though the A/C is already running because my house is 100 years old and its 105 degrees outside and no matter how low she turns the A/C down it will still run all day?

if so, then yes

My wife is a very educated, highly respected member of her profession. She has won tons of prestigious awards throughout her career and even married me (smartest decision ever) but she will NEVER be able to learn how a thermostat works.

My old Roomate used to turn off the air conditioning completely while he went to school (while I was still sleeping) to “save money”

Woke up sweating in a 99 degree house multiple times

Indeed, but I left it open ended in the event that someone out there has come across a male that does the same thing.

My wife will come home and crank it way up or down thinking it's going to cool or heat the house faster. Drives me nuts.

Install old school fake thermostat for wife and have a hidden nest that you control and program. It’s the only correct answer.

How long do you think these would last in an office with men and women?

This is the exact reason I love having a nest in my house that I can lock on the phone app.

Well if it’s a multi-stage system it will.

But let’s be honest:

1. Most people don’t have multi-stage systems
2. Even if they did, women wouldn’t understand it anyway.
