Under normal circumstances I’d say be a neighbor, pick them up, but CFP time, GTFO. I would have had a good laugh

Now that gettin a ride has never been easier (Yellow can, Lyft, Uber), I NEVER do this. Just pay the $20-25 and be done with it.

People that ask you to pick them up without an expected arrival time are dicks.
Nothing wrong with asking a friend to take you to the airport or pick up from so long as you know the time and you don’t have any obligations that would conflict.

Asking in advance, like weeks in advance, is not. Asking someone the day of is very inconsiderate.
Where do you live that doesn’t have Uber?

Honestly depends on who is asking.
50% this... but also, 50% what is going on in that timeframe, and what time of day.
As others have mentioned , no way i’m missing even a portion of an LSU game to pick someone up... but also, the time of day matters.. if my own girlfriend is flying in on a red eye and arriving at 6am, sorry, but Uber exists for a reason.. unless we haven’t seen each other in six months or something, then i can see making an exception.

Dude I totally agree.
I actually don’t mind if it’s in BE, but people who insist on flying out of MSY but plan to rely on others taking them and picking them up instead of driving drive me insane.

I swear some of y’all are lacking any social communication skills...
How hard is it to respond “Hey I’m happy to do it but will be tied up from ____ to ____. Let me know when you get on a flight and we can see if it works.

Depends on who it is. I’d miss the championship game to drive my grandparents anywhere they need.
Anyone else it’s arse/grass/cash or you’re walking.

Freaking this!! It would cost the same to fly out of BR instead of MSY if you paid for parking. Now we do fly out of MSY often due to my husband vastly preferring direct flights. But we drive ourselves and pay to park. Or we have one friend who we swap rides with because he also flys out of MSY so if either of us are flying and the dates work for us to bring the other we do. If not we pay to park. I would never dream of asking anyone else to drive us. Our trips are usually 7+ days and we just factor parking in the budget.

Wait....you know people that live in BR that expect someone to actually drive them to MSY airport??
Unless it’s an older relative (parent, grandparent, etc)....anyone else could go pound sand if they asked me that crap

I’ve picked up friends and family from MSY and brought them.
Then again I’m not an a-hole.

It’s shocking right?? I see it all the time with friends on social media. It blows my mind that someone would purchase a ticket for an airport over an hour away and not have transportation arrangements.
Golfer - of course you can say no but I still think it’s fair to be aggravated that someone would have the gall to ask such a thing (I’m referencing from Baton Rouge to New Orleans). It just the idea they’d put you in that spot to begin. I feel like anyone with a modicum of empathy would understand thats a really big ask.

With Uber there is zero reason, without Uber it can save a ton on parking.

How long of a drive would it be for you?
Family - maybe.
Neighbor - depends, but most likely a No!

No that just makes you a sucker that people know they they can easily take advantage of

I’ve done it too because I’m too afraid to say no to anyone (it’s something I’m working on). But for the most part, a 2.5 hour round trip (twice if you’re picking them up) is a big ask.
When I did it, the pickup time was midnight on a Sunday night/Monday morning. Fun times.

I would think it would depend on the situation.
Good friend has to suddenly go to their grandparent’s funeral out of state and already stressing over costs of travel? I would gladly help them out.
Friend going to a tropical beach resort on some Caribbean island for a week and wants more spending money? frick you and your vacation....pay for parking cheap arse

Exactly. The people that are begging for rides to the New Orleans airport on social media tend to be broke people who booked the cheapest ticket they could find and don’t have reliable transportation to get there.
I don’t do favors for people with the expectation that they will return the favor, but I do favors for people with the expectation that they would do something of similar caliber for me when the time arose. Most of these people do not have the means, ability, or desire to do something like that in return for anyone else.
I would of course drive my parents or significant other anywhere because they’d do the same for me in a heartbeat. (Though I’d never ask for a ride to MSY)
