I don't gate this state, and I don't hate New Orleans but I agree with you. It has become a 3rd world country and is dog shite like other large, liberal run cities. New Orleans was special once.

Mobile.

And don't make us write them to demand revocation of your right to even hold Mardi Gras. Fair Warning

I wish they would do a better job of routing the parade and street traffic to where they do not conflict or create choke points.

Like an idiot, I needed something at the Riverwalk and forgot it was a parade day in downtown in the anfternoon and tonight is Endymion ending at the convention center and starting at city park.

So I drove about 45 minutes going maybe a mile to get to a parking lot and then had to take Elysian Fields to go around the French Quarter. Then I saw Harrahs was charging 60 dollars to park or if you just go loose some money in slots that are tighter than the Vegas Strip, they will still comp you for parking.

Awesome place to visit. Awful place to live. Plain and simple. It’s always been this way.

I am about to blow the OPs mind.

Manhattan averages 142,000 per day

3.5 million people attend the macys day parade. One parade. 3.5 million people

NYC is a city of 8+ million.

Nola has less than 400k. They basically double their population during mardi Gras.

That's a silly comparison.

Manhattan population is 1.5 milliom. They double that for one single parade during Macys Nola also has 5x the land of Manhattan …..

Yes, the Nola lack of perspective is silly

You ain’t wrong. Norlans is and always has been a huge paradox. Maybe the most paradoxed area anywhere, except maybe the Vatican. The buzz there is real for anyone with an ounce of fun.

No they don’t. They get 1 million over a 30 day period. Many of them the same people on multiple trips and many of them already live in the region and drive in for the day.

New Orleans does a good job for Mardi Gras, but the question in the OP was what other cities do similar, and the answer is a lot of cities do similar.

The equivalent to what Manhattan does for Macys would be having a single Mardi Gras parade getting 1 million people.

You were comparing 100k people going to Manhatten versus Mardi Gras in a city 1/4 of the size of the burrow, which also happens to be in the largest city in the US.

It was an asinine comparison.

Not to mention you're comparing an event that is nothing but drunken debauchery versus normal tourists.

Again, it's an asinine comparison.

What? Manhattan has a population of 1.5 million in only 33 sq miles of land

In one single parade, Macys, their population more than doubles with 3.5 million people

That’s more than Nola Mardi Gras does in two weeks. It would be the equivalent to every single Mardi grad tourist total deciding to all go to one single parade

Every major destination city can handle what Nola does

Your original post was simply about Manhatten tourists, which was a dumb comparison, now you've edited it to include the Macy's parade which is a decent comparison.

quote:

Every major destination city can handle what Nola does

And that's just not true. We see it all the time when cities have ridiculous riots after sports games.

I left Nola and hate on it regularly, but one thing they're good at is crowd control.
