They aren't gonna tear it down. They could develop part of it into a small gated community but it's not a fortune worth of lots even at 200k each.

You might be on to something however.

This is absolutely what I would do with it.

Yep, that place is going to look like the Alamo Plaza motel in a few years.

Expect an apartment complex in the front yard in the next 5 years.

Ummmm, like I said that is the staff for a 3,000 sq ft house. Multiply that by 10 for a 30,000 sqft house and it would be 100k

you said a 3,000 SF house cost $100,000/year to staff, then said that worked out to $10,000/month. that math doesn't add up.

The math in you quote of 2 nannies, for $750 week, one weekend nanny for $400/week, and and chef/maid for $750/week also doesn't come close to adding up to $100,000/year. and since you didn't provide a link I am calling bullshite on that article.

additionally, nannies in Baton Rouge don't cost $750/week. I have had paid for one myself and it wasn't close to that. plus your math would account for 20 nannies for the kids if you just extrapolate it out like that.

Look down the street. If they could put a bunch of these houses in there, seems like sure thing to profit.

Keep looking like asses guys:

quote:

A “large estate,” at 10,000 to 30,000 square feet, can run you more than $1.5 million a year. That includes an estate manager (which the magazine says is “mandatory”) at $100,000, three housekeepers, a laundress, head chef, cook, at least five security personnel and “a whole lot more.” Add in other operational costs and the yearly price tag could run as high as $2 million.

No extrapolating needed

Absolutely. Over 36k square feet on 12.5 acres.

It is only $166 per square foot.

Now - heating, cooling and lighting that sumbitch ain't going to be cheap, either, but a bargain for how much house that is.

This isn't Beverly Hills and Spielburg's family. They aren't gonna have near that kind of staff. It's two dentists in BR.

I was speaking of what it cost when it is fully staffed. I have said over and over that is not necessary

That article sucks and you leave out key parts.

quote:

According to the magazine, a 3,000 to 5,000 square foot mansion — categorized as “small” — in a major city will cost a little over $100,000 a year to staff, if the owner has children. That pays for two nannies ($750 a week each), a weekend nanny ($400 per weekend) and a housekeeper/cook at $750 per week.

So-called “medium estates,” which run 5,000 to 10,000 square feet, might cost about $650,000 a year to staff. “To keep these estates spic and span, much more elbow grease is needed, which requires more staff,” the magazine advises. That means nannies and childcare ($98,000), a household manager ($95,000) to run the day-to-day affairs of the home, an executive housekeeper ($65,000), regular housekeepers, a personal assistant, and perhaps a chauffeur. That adds up to staffing costs of $436,000 a year; operational costs will take you the rest of the way to $650,000 annum.

It's including shite like chauffers and way overpaid nannies in a MAJOR us city. Not Baton Rouge.

the estimates assume you are staffing the place better than downton abbey. No one would do that, thats why the $100,000/month estimate is ridiculous.

If anyone has crawfished, it's you. You originally stated that it costs $100K per month.

quote:

Wonder what it cost to run that thing each month. Maid, groundskeeper, electricity, prop taxes, etc.

I would guess well into the 6 figures

Now you're saying it only cost that when fully staffed.

Make up your mind

I said that to fully staff a 30,000 sq ft house that is what it would cost. People roast my arse for it (and talk about Lebron 3 times some how) without providing any detail

I then post an article says it would be over 100k a month for 10,000-30,000 sq ft house. Sorry for partying

One full time handy man and a cleaning service is what they'll need. Maybe 200k per year.

Still taxes, utilities, it'll add up. This is why I was surprised the place was ever built. Pennington or not.

edit: Was the house a suspect or was it actually ever named a suspect?
