Because we all know it’s going to be mandated for schools wouldn’t it stand to reason the flu shot would have to be mandated as well?

Bro.

My point is that getting testing done usually happens out of necessity. People are looking for an alternative for a specific disease or illness so enter into a study. Depending on the prevalence of disease or illness, phase 3 can take years. You just don’t have the participants. That’s a lot of time to get testing done and it’s relative to the severity of the disease/illness. This is completely different. People aren’t volunteering their kids because it’s a need for their kids. They’re doing it because they’re been scared into thinking this makes their kids safer. The drug companies don’t care what their reasoning is. They’re just happy to have a ton of volunteers to get their drug out to more people sooner.

Salmon knows that, he's poking fun at that other guy's post.

I don't think the vaccine is necessary for kids for the reason you gave. I agree that they're trying to get kids into the study while their parents are willing. If nothing else, I could see it being beneficial for future mRNA vaccine development. This one doesn't impact kids much but who's to say it doesn't lead to the development of a vaccine for other coronaviruses that do? The data we get from these trials could be very helpful, so why not do it while we have people willing?

Seems a bit of extreme risk mitigation tho huh?

Especially considering that most of these tragic 400 losses of life were children who already had some sort of life threatening illness. And do we truly know how many of them died directly of COViD complications or passed due to something else but tested positive for COVID?

Of all the things that could possibly harm our children, most of which out of our control, and statistically this being extremely extremely low, you are going to mitigate the risk?

You can choose to ignore the data, but it’s reality and something that should be considered and publicized, instead we get the media hyping up the fear porn.

the data simply does not support this.

eta: not to mention for the children susceptible to COVID19 complications the COVID19 vaccine doesn’t provide them immunity, it only greatly decreases their chances of being hospitalized or dying.

eta2: you would honestly vaccinate a child of yours under 6 knowing the odds?

that post was 100% making fun of an earlier post and illustrating how dumb that logic is

but my kids get the flu shot every year, not because I think they will die from the flu, but because I want to help mitigate symptoms, if any

I'm not going to rush out and get my kids vaccinated for COVID (mostly because they both have already had it), but I'm also prepared for it to be mandated for public school next year, so I'm sure they will be in the future and I'm not really that concerned with any risks at the moment, although that could change once the data comes out

Ahh. I mean we are really arguing semantics here and are pretty closely aligned then.

My kiddo already has his 2021 flu vaccine and will probably get it every year until he’s much older or decides himself he doesn’t want it.

already happening in LA and SF. And my whole point is based on the data it just seems overkill to mandate this on young children. Not to say that if i had to choose between him getting the vaccine and us homeschooling him, I wouldn’t get him vaccinated. I just find it dumb. I nor anyone else should have to make this decision for fricking COVID.

Well I've been pretty open about my disdain for the mandates, so I don't know if we are even arguing

I'm not taking the vaccine but I'll take my little shite to get the jab if there's any money in it. He's 7 so he's old enough.
