The people outraged aren't the people that spend that kind of money on exercise equipment or exercise much anyway. SJWs are mad at the commercial, the upper/middle class white people found it totally relateable. The media just made it a huge deal without realizing that.

I do find it funny that nobody gives a crap about the GMC commercial where the wife buys her husband and herself a watch, and he buys himself and her brand new damn vehicles. Then she just takes his vehicle. That is perfectly fine

This whole controversy has cracked me up.
My wife (no pics) is my age (50+) and did not think there was anything wrong with the commercial and liked it.
My daughter (no pics) is in HS and thought the commercial was horrible.
I (no pics trifecta) didn't really give a damn (other than noting the woman is a narcissist), but because SJW's lose their shite over everything, I knew this ad would cause a fricking shitstorm for a host of reasons (including white privilege, sexism/misogyny, etc.)...and it didn't disappoint.
