But doesn’t a bike that cost $500 do the same thing?
Can't you say the same thing for any hobby? Surely you understand that the more expensive equipment is a better quality. For bicycles...they have features that will allow for better performance(the best brakes, fork, components, etc). Or the frame is of a lighter material...allowing the rider to go faster.
With your logic:
Won't super cheap golf clubs do the same thing?
Won't a $20 fishing rod from Walmart do the same thing?

I trained and completed several triathlons as well as a 1/2 Ironman on a $500 second hand Tri Bike so please don’t tell me what a bike can and cannot do.

Yes, unless you’re a pro or scratch golfer a $500 set of golf clubs will be sufficient

I can catch fish on a cane pole, at least I’m putting food on the table.
How much food is a $5k mountain bike putting on the table?

That's an odd question to ask about a hobby.
My husband loves mountain biking. It brings him joy and is a huge stress reliever to him. He started off on a really cheap bike and as he got more into it...he began to upgrade to a much nicer frame that he bought off craigslist for cheap and built up the rest. He researched a long time for his next upgrade...rented similar bikes on bike trips to narrow down what exactly he wanted. He saved up and carefully decided which bike he wanted. And bought it.

OMG yes, that was ridiculous.
Can you imagine trying to do after the ride stretches on that?
That main Peloton fb group can be a bit much that is for sure.
The gay guy that posts super dramatic pics on his Peloton every Friday cracks me up though. Once he dragged his Peloton bike to the roof of the building he lives in and took a pic there.

I know I get it. I’m just busting your balls.
An expensive bike is a status symbol in the cycling community. It’s all good.
I spend way too much money on boats, guns, hunting and fishing gear.
Im no better than anyone that spends ridiculous money on a bike.

I will admit....when they recently opened the Scottsdale Peloton showroom...I was hoping they would have a couple instructors at the grand opening(they normally do).
They didn't...instead they had a Tread instructor to promote the Tread. I have to say I was a little disappointed there didn't have a bike instructor. Was gonna check out the grand opening if it was one of the instructors I really like (like Matt or Denis or JJ) and get a pic with them.

I didn’t know they did that. Of course, the North Park one has been open since before I moved to Dallas.
On a side note, I did my first Tabata cause I couldn’t find a decent 30 min no weight HIIT. That shite was intense. PRed with some room to spare.
