I'm not really a dyed in the wool Republican but spending 5 minutes on a site like Slate makes me 100% certain that I'm not a Democrat

I think I could write a thesis about how we got here so expeditiously.
The more I get older, the more my zealous idealism about how we can improve humanity is replaced with misanthropy because so many people view the world through the lens of emotion instead of the lens of reason and pragmatism; and these people seem hell bent to do nothing but create problems out of thin air.

It’s true, but ever since Tumblr really took off in 2014 this specific type of crazy has been growing; and I think the “ignore it and let exposure to reality shut it down naturally” approach is to some degree failing for a variety of reasons.
I mean, I don’t want to spend my days combatting crazy on the internet to no avail so that’s not exactly a better solution, but I do think it’s worth stating that the fringe is moving further and further to the fringe and what used to be the fringe has become normalized.
