still can't believe it's been 15 years already. I think, for me, it will always feel like it just happened...

I stayed up all night studying for a biochem test in my first year of med school and was asleep when the first plane hit. A friend called me and woke me up to tell me about it. I turned on the tv in time to see the second plane hit. Was a crazy time for sure. Sickening watching all those people die.

A nice reminder of that awful day.

You love reminding people of awful events of the past.

9/11 is a reminder of why we must be vigilant even in years of relative geopolitical peace.

Our nation was fundamentally and forever changed that day and we would do well to "remind" ourselves of the consequences of complacency

Ditto. The sound of the first jet passing over their heads, the camera panning around just in time to see it slam into the tower...and that sound it made when it hit, followed by the FDNY fireman gasping, "Holy frick!"

I think the most surreal part of that video is when they drive up to the World Trade Center and you can hear the elevator music and see all the people evacuating.

My favorite 9/11 piece is still the one where the French film makers were shooting a documentary on a firehouse when it all went down, and their subsequent footage. Heartbreaking stuff.

Were they the only ones to get the first plan hit on film?

From everything I've seen they were.

was in the old Army Operations Center in the basement watching CNN an on the phone with J-5 getting told to get ready to come on active duty when the second plane hit the WTC....my reaction was "oh shite, this isn't an accident" moments later the sirens started going off...
