And people wonder how the general public will be all for a one world currency using a digital mark.

she was probably a waitress, a stripper, a nude maid; using her tip money and maybe didn't have over 5 dollas on her CC?
you should have said you would pay the tree dollas for her.

Sometimes if an elderly person is short on money, I’ll find it in my heart to help pay her balance. Not everyone has frick you money.
Be kind and help out instead of complaining.

Interesting thread and not what I would have thought at all. We pay for everything on credit cards so that we can get rewards points and then pay them off at the end of the month. I feel like paying cash is leaving money on the table given that we've had entire vacations paid for with points. Agree that pay as you go is best for budgeting though.

Rarely do anything but self checkout, and find myself paying more and more with cash. Less likely if there is a line behind me, as I try not to hold people up. It's not like I'm paying with $1 bills and coins. Just tend to have a lot of cash on me (no questions, please).
Also, if paying with a card it will be a debit unless the price is over the debit limit (which I don't know why they do that). Just don't like using credit cards.

The OT is a fickle enigma. Usually people just piggy back on the tone of the first few replies to get some upvote run off. This is the same crew that trashes people who use the legal tender known as checks, or will nose their way into taking stock of a person's cart and vehicle if they spot a food stamp card.
Using cash isn't trashy, but 'hurry the frick up' is a reasonable thought if you're behind someone taking their sweet arse time with people waiting.

I pay with CC because I get 2% cash-back on all purchases and 5% cash-back on categories (restaurants, grocery stores, gas stations)

Where does the OT rate this on the trashy scale?
Last night at Publix, this lady took no fewer than 5 minutes at the only open register to try to count $32 worth of dollar bills and coins, while people behind her (including myself) were visibly frustrated. The cashier was rolling her eyes as this lady was fishing around in her purse for coins. When the cashier told her she was short by $3.30 or so, she paid the balance on her credit card. I don't understand why she couldn't have paid the initial balance on the card in the first place.
I don't think a cashless society is feasible, but I would definitely be in favor of going cashless at large stores.
I ALWAYS use cash at the grocery store. So I don't see a problem with it.

I'm going to that practice now, just to piss off these snotty punks, and I'm going make small talk with the cashier just to take up more of their precious time
