Overhyping stuff is such a white thing to do.

The man that started Patagonia was a pioneer in the rock climbing scene. Especially at half dome.

They abandoned that mentality a long time ago.

I don’t think anyone is denying that there is a climate.

I sleep outside 50 or 60 nights a year and spend every bit of free time possible outside. Patagonia makes some good shite and politics aside they do a lot of good for outdoor recreation. They are great public land advocates.

Remember when you said, under no circumstance, can someone be shot in the back, even if someone’s life is in imminent danger?

Looked at some Patagonia stuff for actual outdoor function. Hunting layers and such. Not impressive.

I won’t disagree that they’re great advocates for public land protection/expansion, but outside of what they partner with Gore-Tex to make, their quality is shite. They sold out and you’re paying for name recognition. Not technical innovation and specs. I know this because I too, practically live outside.

Give me Mountain Hardware, OR, and Arc’teryx any day over them.

They make excellent quality outdoor gear actually and do a ton for environmental conservation.

They are unapologetically liberal though.

They still make some great clothing, the Nano Puff and Houdini for example.

Their politics suck though. The last thing I remember is some misleading video about some oil facilities in L.A. or some other lib city. Just last night on an outdoor subreddit they were getting criticism for their latest film.

Considering their location, you'd think they'd be a big fan of a$$holes...

However, this will likely force me to move elsewhere. I don’t like being preached to in regards to voting so I’ll take any suggestions.

Good luck finding a good outdoor apparel brand that doesn’t fall on Patagonia’s side of things. Unless it’s purely just not wanting to be preached to on your clothing.

I like Patagonia and will continue wearing their gear.

I take that as vote JBE, Broome, and LaToya out of office. I can support that message.

I view them as sort of an entry level, couple weekends a year type of company. The two types of people I see wearing their stuff is always freshly minted backpackers and crusty old dudes wearing the same jacket they bought in 1991

Which is a testament to what Patagonia used to be.
