I am with you that they are still BS but I see the difference in the two.

God this country is so fricked.

Whatever hippy, the war on drugs isn't gonna win itself. Someone has to do the fighting.

Last year I was denied Claritin by the pharmacy. I left feeling appreciative at my government and comforted knowing I wouldn't make meth that night.

Every once in awhile I will see dogs. Most of the time it is a bluff.

I just wanted to say it's a bluff and they are looking for people making a u-turn. I'm sure it hasn't been stated yet.

I pity the poor person that just happens to get off at the next exit.

They aren't pulling over the mini van who has been in the slow lane the whole time and gets off. They are pulling over the 95 Saturn that swerves over at the last second to get off upon seeing the sign

Ks cops do it all the time on i70 outside co border

They're trying to get stoners to freak out and pull off the highway or do something stupid

Any way you passed it before it was all set up?

narcotics checkpoint? never heard of this. In DUI checkpoints they check for people acting like they are on drugs and apparently have a pot breathaliser?

Sounds like a pretty responsible activity in regards to public safety.

I heard about these as early as the 1980's and heard that the idea was to search people who exited the interstate. I saw one while driving on I-12 near Hammond in the late 80's and decided to exit out of curiosity. There were several police cars waiting on the side road. I came to a stop at the stop sign before driving back onto the on ramp and back on I-12. When I was stopped, the cops looked me over but didn't do anything. I guess I didn't fit the profile.

I also learned that they have one marked car with the lights on and an unmarked car set up to make it look like the cop pulled someone over. The cars were under the overpass so they were in the shade.

They do the same thing with immigration checkpoints. Makes illegals easier to locate.

What's the deal with that? Is it possible they set up on the backroads that run parallel to this highway to check people that had gotten off the highway after seeing the sign? Do cops do that?

Idk but I know they do stuff like that up north for weed.

There is not such checkpoint. The police are waiting at the exit immediately after the sign and not on the highway. A lot of guilty but stupid folks will think they are saving themselves by exiting - only to be pulled over for not coming to a complete stop at the sign at the end of the exit ramp or for not staying completely within the marked lanes. If you don't fit within the profile, you'll still get to move on. If you do, you can bet a drug sniffing dog is close at hand.

They do this on I-49 all the time.

Lol what so people think the police set up a random checkpoint on the interstate? Whoever is dumb enough to fall for that deserves to get caught.
