The Catholics did a pretty damn good job of hiding it and handling it internally up until about 20 years ago.

Meh, if you want to get picky you could say the essence of the protest Luther and others put up was reformed theology. They were trying to reform the Catholic Church. The theology articulated was what we call reformed theology today.
Southern Baptists are a mixed bag these days ... Some reformed Baptists, some not. But traditionally the SBC was very much not reformed, very anti-Calvin, etc. So you could argue they weren't part of the Protestant movement.
But in general people lump them into the Protestant bucket for convenience.

Yeah it’s kind of like that. Everytime a Catholic priest does something horrible, it gets lumped in as a whole with the church. There are hundreds of small Baptist pastors who get busted, but they each get treated separately.
Doesn’t matter, all of the assholes who diddle children should get their ducks cutoff and thrown in prison for a very long time. This goes for anyone covering it up as well.
