Parents with children under four years old, do you let your kids YouTube?
No. We tried, but then Elsagate hit and YouTube became a hard no.

My 4 year old has a tablet, she gets 30 minutes - 1hour of "free time" per day on it depending on her report from school (glorified day care). Usually that 30 minutes consists of you tube kids, which we monitor as closely as possible. The other time on her tablet has to consist of learning apps. I have an app on my phone that cuts you tube kids off after 30 minutes as well as monitors which other apps she has used and for how long.
ETA: The app I use to monitor her use is called Screen Time. It is installed on my phone and her tablet and it costs about $20/year but we have been very happy with it.
We've got the same thing, though I don't let the kids watch YouTube, even YouTube kids, anymore. We did for a little while, but they became very over stimulated and would freak out when time was up. There was also some really weird stuff on there. I'm not talking about the spiderman/elsa videos, but still kinda creepy stuff. We pretty much limit it to educational videos, games, and that shithead Blippi.

Lot of weird videos of kids playing with toys with Muslim prayers or something on the audio

Mine is told of her time limit everyday and we haven't had any problems with her throwing a fit unless its late and she is tired.

my 3 year old watches kids youtube. its hard to control what she finds on it. if it's weird shite i change it. typically she is only on it about an hour total a day.
i would appreciate some tips on controlling what is viewed and educational app ideas.

“Educational” iPad usage is better than just the pure mindless entertainment, but no iPad at all is far superior to “educational” iPad.
Nothing beats a kid being bored and having to find ways to entertain themselves using the creative part of their brain.

About the only things my kids enjoy on YouTube are music videos and Fail Army videos.
And no they don't abuse tablets/video games, though they would if we let them. 20 minutes per day when they get home. Weekends, it's once in the morning and again at night. But that's basically it.
It's just so bad, it's all they think about. If they're not playing, they're quite literally counting down the time until they can play again.

Granted, I did my fair share of playing every sport possible outside as a kid, but I also found the time to put in quite a few marathon video game sessions. Though I did that as an adult too.

No internet or YouTube. Preloaded games only.

I let my 6 year old and 9 year old surf around on the ipad for a bit if they want to. I dont care one way or the other.
But they rarely get it when the family is engaged in something else. If we are at dinner, I expect you to sit and interact or sit and be quiet. Your need as a child to want an electronic takes the backseat to my desire to have you act like a normal human being.
If you are sick, or it is raining, or it is hot as balls I will let time play video games way too much.
If either one of em ever pitched a fit to play or got mad when I told them to shut it off I would just throw it in the trash and really piss em off. That is a big no no for me.
Ive got a senior in college too, so it isnt like I am new to this.
