I wish these were around when I was a kid and that my parents dressed me like this.
First skin cancer found at 27. Second at 33. Third at 34. Thankfully none have been the bad stuff, but the scars are pretty gnarly. Any my parents were not the type to let me burn either. I can’t imagine how bad it would be had they been deadbeats and letting me get burnt as a kid.

My wife and I wear rash guards or sometimes out 3mm shorty spring suits when snorkling. We often are out for 3-4 hours at a time which in the tropics will cook you and coming in is a pain.
To me, it is like cycling, skiing, and rock climbing with a helmet, people my age grew up doing them without a helmet and eschewed them for a while because they looked "stupid" now most everyone wears helmets for these acticities.

I have had 3 basal cells and 75 pre cancers removed (I am 50), I should have worn those back then. Sunscreen is a is full of garbage and hormones, better off wearing long sleeved Columbia shirts

For some children with autism or sensory impairments this may be necessary

My kids are so white they glow in the dark. They will wear the long sleeves if they are in the pool all day.

Yeah, I'm the average fat gut male and I wear short sleeve UV / rash guard shirts because 1) I've got nothing anyone wants to see and 2) It takes more lotion to cover my gut and that's time and money. Sunscreen goes on everything uncovered. I have one long sleeve for weather like today.

Some people would rather avoid a sunburned five year old whining and ruining a nice beach weekend.

Not as ridiculous as this stupid thread.

Why do shirts have SPF ratings now? I've never been burned under a shirt. Are they made to let sunlight through for some reason?

Congrats, this is officially the most insecure thread on this forum ever.

I'd much rather put these long sleeve shirts (not that Wal-Mart-esque Spiderman get up) on my two boys than frick with sunscreen.

Starting to see a lot more of long sleeves and sun protective clothing for outdoor sports like golf, kayaking, surfing, fishing, and hiking. Sunscreen washes and wears off with sweat. I wish I had these options when I was younger.

And just because we care about some slapdick kid on a message board who is completely ignorant to everything about raising kids of your own.
