The Dr. upped the dosage twice to no avail yet, have another appointment scheduled. It doesn't bother or hurt him when he spits up, he seems to not even notice. He is gaining weight like normal, only 30 percentile but consistently gains weight.
Obviously, listen to the doctor, but it sounds like he may spit up because of the sphincter issue the other poster had with his kids. I know mine grew out of it and finally had no issue with the ready to feed. It's stressful, but if he's gaining weight and the doctor doesn't seem overly concerned, you should rest a bit easier.
Wish you well. It's tough. Then they get older...
And it's worse.
Yay, kids!!

Try switching to Soy based formula
Happy spitters.
Others have allergies to milk proteins which can present as severe gas or bloody poops.
Others have anatomic issues, but your baby is pretty far beyond the age at 7 months.
Honestly, switching formula should not be done lightly.

Several of my litter had projectile vomiting. They’ll get over it.

And I’ll post in 1st person to prove it.
Sounds like a happy spitter. As long as he gains weight, he will be fine.

My daughter spit up from 4 mo to about 10 mo. We tried different formulas but stuck with enfamil AR. None really made a difference. Reflux meds didn’t help either. She didn’t act like she was in pain because of the reflux, it was more so just a pain in the arse to deal with. Just burp often and keep baby elevated at least 30 min after each feeding. It’ll probably get better once the baby is eating more solids. It was the worst for us around 7 months.

When you say the baby spits up, can you describe this more. Is it like a wet burp most of the time? Or is it more than that a more forceful? How much is your baby taking in at one feeding? After feeding is baby being placed in a swing or infant type seat? If so, angle of incline is not high enough to keep food from backing up from the stomach to esophagus.
How often is baby eating? May consider smaller more frequent feedings.

This. We have the same issue.. she’ll grow out of it so we just have to deal with the mess until she does. Had the same issue (to a lesser extent) with our first.

See a food allergist ASAP. Ours kept throwing up and we figured “we’ll babies spit up” and then one day he had blood in his poop. Took him to ER and before long we found out he had dairy and soy allergies.
FYI: dairy & soy is in EVERYTHING.
Dr. Edmondson in Prairieville (or south BR, not sure) is who he saw and she nailed it for us. Got it under control then. Good luck to you!

Are you shaking the bottles to make the formula? I know it says to do that on the directions, but it adds a TON of air bubbles. Try making the formula first in a pyrex mixer, stirring it up to mix. We ended up using butter knives to stir the formula in the bottle, as that was long enough and thin enough to fit in the bottle to stir instead of shake.
Might not be the cure, but it's one more thing you can check off as a possible cause for the spitting up. It was the miracle fix for my firstborn.

Enfamil gentlease. Mine were the same way, had to burp them a lot more than usual. Try to keep them upright for as long as possible after feeding. It still took time to get used to formula but should start to see them get better in the next few weeks. Good luck I know how bad that sucks to have spitup on you 24/7

Similac sensitive worker for NillaWafer, she didn’t do well with the Enfamil

This belongs on the health and fitness board. I understand this question is probably more important than others, you still need to follow the rules even though if involves the health of a child.

I am surprised at the baby raising expertise in this thread....maybe you people aren’t quite the asshats that I thought you were!

Have you tried putting oatmeal or rice cereal in the formula to thicken it? Obviously not adult oatmeal. They make baby versions to thicken formula. My son had reflux really bad and we used Prilosec. We would get capsules and pull them apart and mix with his food. They will grow out of it but until then it sucks.

Have you tried burping him frequently during his feeding and sitting him up for a little bit after he is done?
