that its necessary to survive church or a trip to Outback Steakhouse is just silly posturing.
How is that relevant to the current conversation?
Being miles from services, on a quiet trail is a bit different, right.
I mean, I carry water and TP also.
I dont live a life of "fear" and honestly, if it was just me, Id be more apt to take chances b/c I don't GAF.
But maybe if the fella in the OP had a firearm, his kids would still have a mom.
(Not criticizing him, just giving an opinion)

either way it is extremely rare for someone to be violently killed in the US, armed or not.
In the whole United States, yes. There are areas where the murder rate is zero. And there are areas where the murder rate is among the highest in the world.
People don't live in the whole United States. They live in specific areas with their own specific problems. Extrapolating stats from the entire country is meaningless.

someone with a knife can be on you and stabbing you quickly before you realize what’s up.
This is very true. We had a trainer do a couple of demos of how fast someone can close on you from around a gas pump, getting out of the car in front of you, etc. It should teach people never to carry with an unloaded chamber, but there's no shortage of idiots.

And if you get rid of the Top Ten shitholes, your chances go down even more.
But where this happened wasnt considered one of those...

The poster I was responding to was quoting nationwide stats as if they apply to everyone.
They don't.
They don't.

I've been following this bizarre story for the last few hours. None of it makes sense. I've stayed at Devil's Den SP many times. Beautiful place.
There is definitely more to this story that will play out over time.
You retards do this shite all the time.
The feeling you have right now is a direct result of you trying to piece together a story with only a snippet of the needed information available.
I’m sorry, but you will more than likely NOT be able to solve this murder mystery from behind the safety and comfort of your mobile device. Let the professionals handle this. All the details will be available when they’re ready for the general public (YOU) to have it
Glad I could help

My favorite part of AwgustaDog’s ill-conceived anti–gun argument is that this entire thread....and every follow-up discussion......revolves around the brutal murder of two innocent people. Yet somehow he wants us all to ignore the glaring reality, that: had those victims been armed, the odds of such a tragedy would have been virtually zero.

Not sure, thats the first time I;ve heard her. Sounds like she's trying to read the words and keeps getting tongue tied.

And we all logically agree that of course it statistically is very rare.
And yet, right in the OP, it happened.
Would a gun have prevented it?
Maybe, maybe not.
But your odds go way up...

Its truly amazing how many gun owners suffer from irrational fears associated with other humans.
This is fricking hilarious
I can remember a time not too long ago where you and all your fricking people were duped into believing your biggest threat to survival was fricking white supremacy
Shut the frick up with your bullshite, that’s enough!

Reports consistently show that there are between 60,000 and 2,500,000 defensive gun uses per year.
That's quite the range there

Headed to Wyoming on Friday to see that state for the first time and do a bunch of hiking
Where specifically in Wyoming?
We're going back next July for the 3rd time in 12 years. Saratoga and The Snowies is our spot.

You've never even picked up a gun, have you?

By that logic, who needs a fire extinguisher or fire alarm—unless you're a arsonist. fricking stupid.
I remember having to do fire drills in school once a month.
School didn't burn down once while I was there.
I'm sure we can find statistics that show how rare school fires are.
According to Awgusta, schools should not do fire drills as statistics show they rarely happen.

Exactly. Its rare until it happens to you.
I had a cousin who was killed when he was robbed at an ATM
I had a good friend who was killed when some piece of shite shot up an ihop.
Would they still be alive if they were armed? I don't know. But had they been, the odds may have been evened somewhat.
