Car is about 9 years old. Paint on hood is faded beyond repair. Plan on keeping the car a few more years (it's a Honda. They are supposed to run forever and I enjoy not having a car note).

Is Fact-o-Bake a good option in BR? According to website, they will repaint the whole car for $499, which almost seems too good to be true. I only need the hood done. The roof and trunk have been repainted by Honda for free previously.

Am I missing something, or is this a good deal?

Any other ideas or recs for a guy who might could paint just the hood for less than $499?

TIA

Ah, the typical Honda dark color clear coat fade.

Don’t go to MAACO, they suck.

Your best bet is to find someone local. Google is your friend.

And I agree....looking for recs.

Can I get a hood painted for under the $500 Fact-o-Bake wants for the whole car? I have ZERO knowledge about all this.

I used factobake for my daughters Ford Focus. I thought they did a fine job. Looked to me like a factory paint job. It was 1500 though cause I had some bodywork done.

Why not check with your local dealership? They will either have their own body shop or can recommend one.

Another option is to call your insurance company. Most insurance companies have an approved list of body shops they deal with.

I’m in the collision repair industry. STAY AWAY from fact o bake. Depending on where you live, I can offer some recommendations for you. My shop is in Zachary. In Baton Rouge, my recommendation is Collision Solutions on Florida Blvd, near downtown. In all honesty, any reputable shop should be able to do a good job on your hood. But, you get what you pay for. If the paint is delaminating, the hood would need to be stripped to bare metal, then primed, and then painted. Running that through a shop, you’re looking at roughly $600. My painter would likely paint something like that on the side for $300-$400. Stay AWAY from “budget” repair shops, or you’ll be paying for another paint job in a year or two.
