Please no.

Could be worse I guess. A combination tropical isle, daquirie shop, big arse beer shop, and t-shirt shop. With annoying little shot girls crawling all over the place.

I had never been to "that end" of Bourbon until I did the Red Dress run for the first time several years back. I think it gets a much bigger reputation than what it actually is. Theres only a handful of gay bars. And I know girls who go to OZ for bachelorette parties and girls night out, so its not like its a big gay secret.

And to the guy that said north LA is the good part . Not to make it into of those threads but seriously

Straight guy my wife worked with while she was in nursing school would pull in over $300 in tips tending bar on Sunday nights...

If he works at a gay bar, there's nothing straight about him.

As if nursing school wasn't enough of a tip off

I wonder how that place went bankrupt? It always looked packed. Seems like it had 3 partners who owned, I'm going to guess at least 2 of them were snorting up the profits.

Plenty of straight guys work at gay bars. They can make a crap load of money. Gay guys are like straight guys, they love what they can't have. Those straight guys get hit on all night and tipped more than the gay bar tenders.

Just because you can't be around gays without giving it a try doesn't mean others are the same.

That and probably had bartenders stealing from them. Giving drinks away free for bugger tips will bring even the best of bars down.

FTR, I am pro-gay equality, have a couple gay friends in Nola, and not religious in any sense and from Baton Rouge and I've never heard of Oz.

And I party like a motherfricker in New Orleans a dozen times a year.

So your statement is crap.

I'm curious as well. no pun intended. I've been to that place a few times over the years. And while it's lost it's luster as the GO-TO techno club for ALL sexual orientations in the CBD/FQ area since places like Ampersand came on the scene, it would still be packed on holidays and weekends. The Pub across the street has finally been a successful venture in the last 10 years and is also stealing some of their day crowd for sure.

As for the homophobes worrying about being on that 'end of bourbon', I brought my gf there for the first time in 2011. Her only WTF moment was the unisex bathroom upstairs.

One big issue I always had with Oz was the cover charge and drink prices. That could definitely be hurting their day time and average weekend crowd.

I've been in Oz probably a 100 times. Place is always slammed. They really must have dropped the ball(s) handling finances.

My brother is gay, but I'd still go in there if he wasn't. Its not that big a deal...well, I'd say avoid sitting at the bar where the dancers come down for tips.

You can't really miss Oz. You have to walk past it on the way to the Blacksmith's shop. I do enjoy the faces of out of towners when they pass St. Anne's though.

I guess I do too now

But its the truth. I am terrible at remembering names of shite though.

I never party on the quarter either. Unless a late night Goldmine or strip club session is happening and I'm black out drunk.

ETA:

There's a chance I've even been there and don't remember the name. I've been in a couple of those gay clubs. I'm just saying that maybe the person who said they've never heard of it are like me and just don't remember or pay attention to the name of the place. That doesn't mean I'm any of the things you pointed out.
