I’m in the “let’s let all the unhealthy, obese adults who are on disability die” camp.

It’s early in the thread, the “let all the addicts and alcoholics die Bc of their choices” crowd hasn’t got here yet

And they won't because muh Rona. That's for the next thread about a tPOS with a knee on the neck. Addicts just need more programs and AA/NA said no one on the OT until today.

I know you are going for that whole edgy guy post (which is still tight), but the OT shows up when needed for recovery related information. You would be surprised at the sober years a lot of regulars have stacked up.

So for the third straight year overdose deaths are increasing. Yeah, let’s blame that on Covid

I have an uncle and a close friend who were saved by the AA model. I’ve never claimed these people should just die especially those who are seeking help. Those are the ones we are losing here. Which is a damn shame.

Going from a 23% increase to a 110% increase is significant, yes?

Correlation does not equal causation. You could just as easily blame it on the Trump checks. More free money for the addicts. You can guarantee their arms had a field day

If you ever need to talk just reach out, the OT can come through when times get tough
Hopefully with restrictions easing somewhat people are able to feel better about things

Looking at that graph, numbers were significantly higher in January and February: before the shut down. Baton Rouge has a serious problem and you can’t pawn it off on social distancing

Or our entire approach to how we handle addiction and non violent drug offenses as a whole. The system has obviously failed

This is all Trumps fault for protecting the borders from heroin but leaving it open to Chinese fentanyl

I’m doing a lot better now, thanks. Once we hit phase 2, I was able to get in better touch with my therapist, family, and friends. I still have bad days, but nothing like what I was experiencing back in March and April.

Maybe Louisiana has an opioid prescription fraud problem

I am in agreement 100%. Treatment of addiction requires a holistic approach.

In January it was just 2 more ODs. That’s not significant. March, before any stimulus existed was quite significant.

Followed by an increase in February. This trend of increased numbers in OD’s started in January. Did the social distancing have an impact. Rather than the cause it is probably exasperating a larger problem that Baton Rouge is experiencing.
