I know there’s a lot to do outside the city, but internal to Baton Rouge what are some good parks, rec areas? Running trails, lakes, golf courses, etc.

Will be there next week for work. What’s something similar to Memorial Park/Houston, Katy Trail/Dallas, or Town Lake/Austin?

Transportation will be limited so please no suburban or outskirts suggestions.

If you really want to get a taste of the local flavor, commit some outdoor crimes such as grand theft auto, armed robbery, etc., or swim across the Mississippi River (it's a local rite of passage).

Take in ATV moto-cross activities along Jefferson Highway or drag-strip races along Choctaw.

If you're really lucky you'll see a drift event in a busy intersection.

it’s going to be really hot so you should probably just stay inside. but I know you’re just being a troll and trying to not so subtly say why texas is better

We used to climb the towers south of campus, along the river. Climbed to the top of the nearest side of the bridge…climbed the buildings on campus, climbed the gym at the high school on campus, climb the magnolias…skateboard down the hill before the tennis courts…

Baws make fun of people around here that like outdoor things other than fishing or hunting.
I’m glad you didn’t mentioned biking. That really would have fired them up.

I think I know what you mean but you're going to have to "outskirt" most of Baton Rouge to get anywhere decent.

Run the lakes

Run, bike the levee

Downtown gets a bad rap, but it's OK if you limit your heroin intake.

State capitol is kind of cool with the observation deck and some other sites. Like the pencil in the ceiling.
