Our Mutt Saved Wife From PitBull Attack

We have a Lab/Mix. She is 7. Rescued from shelter as a puppy. More lab than anything else. She is about 55 lbs.
So my wife was dropping her off at the kennel for a short trip. As she was walking in, a girl with a PitBull was leaving. As they approached one another I am told the Pitt broke free from the girl and began charging my wife barking and growling. (My thought was it was charging my dog, but my wife, the dog owner, and the kennel owner all swear it was going for the wife).
Wife jumps back in fear and drops leash. My "mutt" jumps between her and the dog...meets the Pit in mid-air and they tumble to the ground.
From what I am told, my dog was spinning in a circle on the ground as the Pit kept trying to get a lock on her back leg. So much movement the Pitt never got a solid jaw lock. Kennel owner was able to separate them with a large pole or something and the girl got her dog under control.
End game? Wife - 0 Injuries, My Mutt - 4 stitches in back leg, Pitt - large gash in face, dunno how many stitches.
Wife and I feel lucky as hell and remain amazed at the loyalty of a good mutt.

Strongest dog I've ever owned was a black lab mix. Strong as a horse. Black beast named Ebony. Grew up in a trailer park and had to keep it chained to his dog house.
Anyway, we'd have to buy him a new chain every week because he'd snap it in half, to the point we put him on a horse chain and he'd drag the whole house out of the ground.
Well one day, a 7 year old version of me is digging in some dirt by the dog house and Ebony is roaming free because us kids are outside. The dudes in the trailer behind us were into dog fighting and raised pit bulls. One of the pit bulls gets loose and attacks our neighbor - hot girl named Kim. Ebony sees this and takes flight...totally decimates this pit bull and kicks its arse in 3 seconds.
Ebony was dog napped a few days later to be placed into dog fights as the theory goes. I like to imagine he later earned his freedom after becoming the GOAT dog fighter and still thinks of me to this day in his doggy mansion on some island in the Bahamas.

Had an outside cat at our restaurant in Slidell. Damn thing was like 22 years old when it passed. Anyways, there was a trailer park behind our property. Over the years I watched that cat beat the shite out of pits, dobermans, german shephards, etc over the years.

Women, pffffffft! Can't hold back any dog bigger than a Yorkie. Seen it too often as an aggressive larger dog drags their arse around or breaks free from their non-grip. Even if they transgender to a male, still too weak.
