Our education system has failed us

I was in the grocery store. Bag boy asks me paper or plastic. This is how the conversation proceeded:
Me: I guess I’ll take paper
BB: Don’t you want to save the paper
Me: Huh
BB: Don’t you want to save the paper products. Plastic grows on trees
Me: Excuse me, what
BB: yeah, plastic come trees
Me: No, I’m sorry, it doesn’t. Plastic comes from oil
BB: yeah dude, tree oil
Me: no, ground oil
BB: are you sure?
Me: are you thinking of rubber
BB: I… guess. Yes. I could swear…
Cashier (kinda meanly): That’s why your a bag boy
BB (dejected) That’s why I am a bag boy
Me (fully aware the line growing behind us) Eh… have a good day
Me: I guess I’ll take paper
BB: Don’t you want to save the paper

No. I think the radical lefts who’ve taken over our education system are more worried about ensuring youth are indoctrinated in Marxist ideology and don’t care if they get an actual education or not.

Our local Publix insists on mostly hiring mentally disabled people. I hear praise for them for giving people with special needs the opportunity to work.
But I’m pretty sure it’s because they don’t have to pay them as much.

I definitely don’t have myself on a pedestal. I am so down on my luck right now I’d put myself in the gutter.

Dude you do even know how bad kids these days are. I was married to a highschool teacher and am dating one now. Her kids from freshman to seniors cannot write a single simple coherent sentence. Not even joking. I don't know where we as a society failed these kids, but the education system needs to be burnt to the ground and totally rebuilt. Richest country in the world and we are getting smoked by countries that teach in grass guts and dirt floors.
These kids are just flat out dumb. No better way to put it. She's grading papers next to me right now, and I'm pretty sure most of us would have better answers and replies in second grade than these answers. They cannot write a simple freaking sentence.
I'll even one up the stupidity of these kids. Last week she asked them to pretend they were recieving a check in the mail and to write their address like you would for a letter. Yeah those results were beyond pathetic.
Oh and she reaches at one of the better hs in the state.
I wish the general public really knew the dire straits our education system is in these days. And yes I do know parents or lack there of also are to blame for this.

I can’t speak for that. I know my hometown has two excellent, very well regarded nationally public high schools. They seem to be doing fairly well for themselves. Definitely a large amount of gentrified students though

That’s common. This kid was just young though I think.
I also shared on here in the past, when I was in the Midwest, I was checking out. The mentally slow bag boy looked at the alcohol I was buying, and said “my brother said only bitches buy that.”
