i dnt know all the details of this case, and not putting it on mental illness, but i will give an example from my work. Sometimes people suffer from extreme mental illness where they have no idea what they are doing. We had a patient once who every time he used the phone he would get very mad. So finally we called his mother "who he was calling" and she said that she did not want to speak to her son, and that every time he called she would hang up on him.. which would make him very upset because he could not understand why his mom wouldnt want to talk to him. He would call and make small talk like "high mom hows it going" and she would hang up, and he would flip.

wellllllllllll there was good reason the mom didnt want to talk to him, he had previously decided to take an axe and chop his father up, which ended up getting him in the system, and at our hospital, He had zero clue he killed his father. When we tried explaining what he had done and why his mom wouldnt talk to him he could never comprehend what he had done. Very scary/sad

There are no excuses here. The excuses are for another group of people who murder at a disproportionate rate. This kid is evil and everyone wants to see him locked up if not executed
