I think this is easier said than done. I would think loan sharks are well aware of this possibility and prepare accordingly getting as much protection as possible.

True, but with one of the above posters "there's more to this story", it makes me think he was threatened "Get me the f'ing money or else - I don't care if you have to kill your family for it" kind of thing.
