Steinhart Ocean One GMT

Explorer II homage. Solid watch at a good price if you're looking for an automatic GMT watch!

However, the inside of authentic watches tell a totally different story. I’ve not seen or heard of a fake watch that has the same internal gears, mechanical qualities, and precise inscriptions as it’s authentic counterpart.

The issue with the Panerai is that the fakes are next to impossible to distinguish from the authentic ones from what I have read. I would be buying from an AD but I am worried about their long term value due to the fakes being so close. No other watches have as close matches when it comes to fakes as Panerai does apparently.

Last year I decided to start wearing a watch again and bought a Seiko 5. Didn’t want to spend a whole lot in case I didn’t like it. It’s been great so far just have to wind forward a few minutes every couple days. I think I’m gonna upgrade to these next. One for casual and one for dress. Not ready to spend 1k plus on a watch.

I’ve got too many, I think. When a friend of mine got me into automatics a few years ago, I wanted to build up a collection, but couldn’t afford anything expensive. So I’d check Amazon for some good deals on stuff I liked. I already had a nice Citizen Eco Drive and a G-Shcck.

Since then, I’ve picked up

3 Seikos(2 5s and te Pepsi)
5 Orients(blue, black, and white faced Bambinos, a red-faced diver, and Blue Ray II)
1 Stuhrling (automatic with white face and bluish/purple dials that I found for $30 and put a purple and gold nato strap on it for my game day watch)

So, I’ve got 11, all under $300(most under $200, and a couple under $100), which is kinda ridiculous. I loved wearing something new everyday at 1st, coordinating with my shirt or whatever. Now, I basically only wear the Pepsi with different straps, the blue Orient Bambino if I’m dressed up with black shoes, the nice big blue Seiko 5 with the stainless bracelet if I’m dressed up and wearing brown or tan shoes. G-Shock to the gym or when I’m gonna be outside. (I’m sure y’all could, really give a shite about this, but I’m working it out in my head ).

Anyway, I could get by with 2 or 3 instead of 11. I wish I had saved up and gotten something nicer around $1,000 instead of a bunch of cheaper ones. Though I think Seiko and Orient are by far the best quality automatics for the price. It’s just easier to justify dropping $200 every month or 2 than a grand at one time. Especially to the wife.

Anybody have a good site they use to sell collections, or do,I have to sell these individually? I’d like to get rid of all but the Pepsi, blue Bambino, and G-shock and pick up something around 1k. Any suggestions on something in that range? Buddy’s got a Squale that I really like, but not sure if that’s the one “nice” watch I’d want.

Is the root issue that you don’t want to be questioned that your Pam is real? I assure you, fakes can always be spotted. Sometimes harder depending on the watch but I assure you that buying a Pam will not be a bad investment.

Is that your site? Can I sell multiples in a bundle, or would it just be easier/better to sell them individually?

Also, if you didn’t have a watch at all and had 1k to spend, knowing what you know, what would you get?

Zero, stopped wearing watches when cell phones became pocket size. One less thing to worry about.

Two:
Datejust
Victorinox Summit XLT

The XLT started losing time recently, so I'm probably getting two more to replace it. Got a solid 10 years out of the thing, and repairing it costs almost as much as it did brand new.

Will probably add this week:
- G-shock GW-6900
- Either Citizen Promaster Diver BN0150-28E, Seiko SKX007, or Marathon GSAR
