OT Trashy Rating: Social Media

Posting a wedding registry on Social Media and asking "for those friends we haven't spoken to in awhile and those who are out of state. Please help make our special day even more special by helping us out."
First time I've seen someone I know post one of these. At least it isn't drama and I understand for people put of state but the "friends we haven't spoken with" throws me.
Also: napkin holders, knives set, or pots and pans?

It’s easy not to donate to those assholes.

I received one informing me that while I was not invited to attend the wedding reception due to cost constraints, please consider donating money to us for our honeymoon.

I'm not sure I consider it trashy, but if I'm not invited to the wedding, you aren't getting a damn gift or donation from me.

Not as trashy as the folks who are on their fourth marriage and have a registry list containing gifts like they are 21 year olds fresh out of college

My parents had a neighbor that did this on her third marriage. My mother's exact words were "Is she fricking kidding me?"

Reminds me of a former co-worker I used to go to lunch with on occasion (never hung out outside of work). He asked me to be his best man.
I took one for the team. Was very awkward. I really knew nothing about the guy outside of bitching about our boss at the time 7 years earlier.

Not trashy, just that sense of entitlement. Imagine telling someone that you haven’t spoken to in forever that they’re not invited to the wedding and then asking for honeymoon donations. Goddamn.

There's alot to be said for honesty. In 2019, I had a cousin get married. They sent out an invitation that read, "We don't want to have a wedding, you don't want to come to a wedding. We're going to the court house, even though some people don't like it. We're going to have a party, if you want to come show up. If not, send us something if you want. Gifts are fine, cash is better. Hope to see you soon."
I sent them a $200 gift card.

Same here. My mom was wondering why she needed a third exact same kitchenaid mixer

Trashy af. Sad because we were not raised that way

Super trashy. I’ve seen childhood acquaintances post baby registries saying “I’m posting this since so many people have asked.” Literally nobody asked, I promise.

I like the glass tupperware set. Classier than your run of the mill ziploc and can be used to reheat dinners as the wife drifts into become a housewife and the husband drifts further into misery. Both yearning for the life left unknown

I'd guess Paris Hilton's registry will expect several hundred dollar napkin rings from the less wealthy members of her family.
