I probably only run 15-20 miles per week on average and I don't really consider that "light". I don't plan on doing any race over 10k until

What really shoots your mileage up is when you are training for longer distances. A 10+ mile run on the weekend really shoots your numbers up. Otherwise, my weekday runs are only between 3 and 7 miles. And I may get 4 in a week due to spending time doing other things to stay active.

The first year (1997) I did the CCC 10K, I had followed the deal in the paper to train for it.

We had to park far away from the start, so we had to walk like a mile and a half to get to the beginning.

I remember thinking I'm screwed b/c I had only trained up to 6.2.

I ran about 1800 miles last year all in Brooks Adrenalines. I have been wearing those for years now. I don't even consider another shoe.

Wait, what is this? I've got over 600 mi in my Sayonara 1s and it's the perfect shoe. Surely Mizuno is not leaving the performance trainer category. I've got to check on this.

They made the Wave Sayonara 3 last year, but aren't making this year from what I understand. I think you'll have to go to the Hitogami

I friggin hate that shoe companies do this so often.

Every time Asics changed the 2100 series, it got worse IMO.

1800 miles is 150 a month or about 35 a week. Not all that tough......
In the winter months.

But, I can't run that much in the heat of the summer. My summer runs are limited to 3 miles or so a day.

To me that seems like a ton. I guess not if running is all you do for exercise.

Summer months suck around here. Just finished an 18 week marathon training program that started in mid-September where I put on about 720 miles of training. Got through it injury free which helps.

Where did you find Brooks Ghosts for around $100. I just got some Brooks Dyad's and love them. The Ghosts are supposed to be similar.

If that show fits for your particular foot etc.

Go to a real running store and get tested to see about your gait cycle, foot strike etc..

Do you have supination, over/normal pronation?

do you need a cushioned shoe? One for stability? Motion control?

My wife is a runner - wears Brooks...

I found evidence of the Sayonara 4 coming later this year, so that's a relief. Mizuno's just released the Catalyst, which looks like a more supportive Sayonara. Like the old Elixir. Might have to try that one.

You can get the Ghost 7 all over for around $70 - $100 online. The 8 is the "new" model, but I've read that the difference isn't noticeable or anything.

Go to a running shoe store and ask them to help you out. Then go online and buy the same shoe for $30 less
that's fine and dandy until that running store isn't there for you to take advantage of any more because of lack of support.

I get the first pair from there after trying them on. But if I'm going to buy the exact same pair in 4 or 5 months, why would I pay $30 more when I can get them on Amazon delivered to my door? I get it in a small town that may only have one local shop(a friend of my dads was closing his running shop last time I visited). But I'm in Houston and not going to waste money just to support a Fleet Feet or something like that. I've got my local shops for things that I will continue to go to, but they usually help me out with pricing every once and a while too.

Feet Fleet's are franchised, FWIW.
