I was always taught to walk / run against traffic (left side of road) but am noticing increasing numbers of people running with traffic. What is the correct direction?

The fact that these frickers don’t want to move out of my way is a whole different situation. Unless I am running the wrong way and they are saying the same thing about me that is.

Against, as the law (depending on where you are of course) says.

Against. Preferably on a not-heavily-trafficked road. You can tell pretty quickly if someone is swerving or not paying attention. Try to make eye contact with the driver and ensure that they're paying attention. You'll be surprised and terrified to see just how many people are looking at their phones while driving.

This is a bit off OP's topic, but I got bumped this morning actually...sort of. There was a cross walk that's designed for kids to walk to school through a neighborhood and I was crossing it as a truck was approaching. There's also a stop sign right there and a big sign that says pedestrian/school crossing.

I thought he was stopping but realized quickly that he was "California stopping" the stop sign. I jumped forward, twist turned, and pushed off the side of his hood. He slammed on the brakes and looked up shocked while holding his fricking iPhone flat in his hand like it was a goddamn hors d'oeuvre.

against.

you see what is coming and they can see you (the human eye is conditioned to quickly perceive faces, like any other animal)

The lakes are a different story though typically no cars going over 10 mph and I would pass very few cars while running.

yeah it's against, but runners and bikers need to do everyone a favor and be smart about it. Riding your bike at dusk on a busy state hwy with no shoulder is a recipe for disaster. That and you're a miserable prick for backing up traffic so you can get your workout in.

Yeah, but what if you are above the law?
