All that usually calms down by 10th grade or so. By then they realize that no one really gives a shite what they think.

Yep.

Best advice.

Home needs to be a rational place that doesn’t mirror or magnify that sort of drama or really care about it at all. A separate world that views the dramatic school/social world as sort of fake.

Too many “moms” want to get involved in that stuff and they make it 1,000X worse by legitimizing petty immature bullshite that should really be downplayed and mostly ignored. It’s because they’re bored and want to live vicariously through their daughters instead of being mature and above it.

My ninth grader has the sweet disposition of a fifth grader. She’s relentlessly positive. My 19 year old was all drama at that age though. Depends on the kid.

I have 5 daughters so I have a little experience with that. 2 are now married. 1 just graduated and the last 2 (twins) will be seniors next year. IMO, it’s all about the culture at home first. Be a parent first-not a friend to them. A lot of moms want their daughters fully immersed in this dance/cheer/prom queen/oh my gosh my daughter is awesome/drama environment. They’re basically living vicariously through them. Drama in the classroom followed by drama in the living room. If that’s the case- it will be bumpy.

The middle school age is gonna be rough no matter what -but if home is balanced and a place for support/correction/perspective and doesn’t mirror the same high school hype they’re around daily- they’ll be different. Not perfect- but balanced and different.

Hey-they’re girls. There will be a certain amount of drama. But it can be very enjoyable. Remember if you’ll be a parent now you’ll have them as a friend later.

And oh yeah, I’ve had a home coming Queen, a prom queen and some all district athletes- lest you think we totally shielded them from all that.

If anyone is really asking the question this is truth.

Nope. Doesn’t end in high school at all. It will calm down somewhat in 11th & 12th grade, they are all a bunch of ‘Mean Girls’ all the way through.

Mine’s not perfect but shite some of those girls her age are downright evil!

In my experience the tomboy types grow out of this phase much faster if they go through it at all. If I ever have a daughter, I am going to push her toward sports from an early age.
