I would ask them what they saw in that human being. I would inform them of what sex is. Much like letting a child handle a weapon, there are big responsibilities if you want to have sex.
I would supply my child with condoms or birth control, but it would involve plenty of conversation and real discussions. I won't try to scare my child by just screaming STD!!!! in their face, but the real possibility of children, and that will ruin your life.

I think it's just being smart. I had a friend who got a girl pregnant when they were both 16. Totally derailed his life. Eff that.

I know of a 24 year old that has had a vasectomy.

Of course not. Wearing one is the key though.
And pull it off when you pull out, + a chick's tongue can be a wicked tool in that moment.

also a quandary to me, is that saying "disregard everything you've been told/taught and do what you want to to anyway, take these to cover both of our asses," v. "you've been told the ground rules, it's up to you to do whatever you think is right taking into account the consequences" tough stuff

I always enjoy parents that think that be a realist about safe sex is bad parenting.
I would much rather a kid be safe if they are gonna make that choice rather than be oblivious to it actually happening.
It's not like I wasn't doing that in highschool

I'm sure you don't want your children having unprotected longshoreman/ballerina/monkey sex.

Shouldn't that be the responsibility of whichever teacher they're screwing?

I really don't know how I'm gonna handle this situation.
Right now, however, at 28, I expect to put my daughter (if I have one) on birth control at 15 and I would probably give my son condoms.
I'm not gonna pretend it doesnt happen, and the aftermath if it does will have significant effects on his/her and my life.

For those who wouldn't, what's the risk/reward scenario you're looking at?
For me it's:
Risk: Potentially have a super awkward conversation. Potentially make light of sex and the (supposed) intimacy involved.
Reward: No kid I'm supporting.
I honestly don't know how you don't do it. My parents were as religious and traditional as they come and I (along with everyone I knew from similar backgrounds) was smashing in high school. We got lucky. Some in our school didn't.
I don't wanna leave my kid's future up to a coin flip.

If I have a son, I am going to drive to a trailer park and tell him that this is where he will end up if he knocks up a chick when he is too young.
