TV stations here in BHM are jumping up and down about the chance for a serious North Alabama tornado outbreak tomorrow afternoon/evening: "download our app, stay tuned, respect the polygon", etc.
What say y'all? Ratings-hype or something I should worry about?

I'd say the possibility is great

I’m in the Ham area and it sure seems they are puckering a bit now.

there will either be a tornado or there won't.
so i'd say the possibility is real.

The red blob looks like a meme with arms outreached trying to get their long lost love back from South Georgia. It's creepy.

Not as serious as pink, purple, or black

I'd say about a 30% chance of a tor in any given 25 square mile plot.

a Forecast allows you to prepare, right or wrong it is a prep warning

It's Spring in the deep South. That's enough reason to be worried.

Well, I mean...yeah.
Especially since that graphic is from NOAA, and not your local guys.

They get the forecast right about half of the time.

No need to get all technical on us doctor.

Tomorrow is a very real threat for severe weather across northern and central Alabama. All modes of severe weather are possible: hail, straight line winds, and tornadoes (possibly a couple of strong tornadoes).
You definitely should be weather aware tomorrow and have a way to get warnings.

If James Spann says worry....WORRY

No one can predict a tornado specifically but they are getting much better at predicting a outbreak over a area or region.

In Alabama? I sure there is a chance but it's probably mostly media hype.
In Oklahoma or Kansas - yeah, make sure the shelter is stocked.

This is not some threat the media just came up with. The computer forecast models are in pretty good agreement showing the potential for a serious severe weather threat tomorrow.

Is Jim Cantor there? If so update your insurance.

Steve Wilfong just crystal balled a tornado to Alabama. He’s pretty accurate.
