OT Mechanics I need help. Spare stolen

I am currently in Chicago installing a filtration system in a US Steel facility. Left hotel and noticed misc pieces when I backed up. I have spring,washer and mounting bracket. My question is can I just use cable clamps to hold tire up on the cable or need some type of special clamp ? I am not really sure what binds the cable so tire doesn’t fall.

Spare was stolen under truck. Cable cut releasing tire. What do I need to remount spare. I don’t want to keep in bed of truck.

I’m assuming that you’re talking about a truck. So are you missing the clamp bar? If we’re talking about a truck, you know there’s a bed you can throw a spare in until you get home?

Don’t jerryrig this. 50 lbs of steel and rubber are deadly on a highway. A few years back I lost a spare wheel/tire when a strap broke on my trailer. My wife and son were following me. It did $5000 worth of damage to her vehicle and could have killed them.

I'd like to watch you mount a spare, under your truck with only a clamp and no hoist cable.

Cable is still there. Was going to clamp cable so spring and bracket stay in place but that is apparently a bad idea.

In Chicago if that tire is put on a vehicle that is used to commit a felony you could be tried as a codefendant. But I see you’re a lawyer so you’re probably already aware.

If it was a GM truck the only way they could get it down was probably to cut the cable. That piece of shite system has left me stranded twice already having to call someone to bring me to the tire shop. You're better off chaining your spare in the bed of the truck so you can actually use it when you need it.
