On my 2012 Silverado 1500 I've been noticing oil spots on the driveway after getting the oil changed a couple weeks ago. I just started noticing the spots a couple days ago and never noticed them before the oil change but I can't be 100% sure they weren't there. There is oil all over the underside of the engine.

I tried to find the leak but I can't locate it. The filter is tight and there's leaked oil above the filter anyways. The oil pan gasket doesn't seem to be the culprit. The weirdest thing is, I don't seem to be actually losing any oil when I check the levels everyday.

Is it possible they just did a really sloppy change and got oil everywhere and there's no actual leak? Seems unlikely though.

Son you need to grab a left-handed hammer and pound on it to make sure that it’s tight

Drive it for 20-60 miles. Clean under it when u park. See if it's just them being sloppy. Keep a look on oil every time u drive it to be safe.

If it's still leaking after a short while, then u have a leak.

Where did you have it changed?

Yes, it’s very possible they did a very sloppy job during the change and you’re just seeing residual oil falling off the various components.

Clean it off as well as you can, continue to monitor oil level, and check under it again for minor leaks in a couple days.

Do you have a skidplate?

Get under there and clean everything with a rag and wd40. You should be able to see any leaks after.

Jiffy Lube. Yea, I know. Probably explains it but I was in a hurry.

Change your own oil. Then you know it’s done right.

Jiffy lube in LC left a gasket on from the old filter and installed a new filter and gasket over it on a buddy's truck.

It'd drip oil and then under pressure when idling up would spray oil.

Might want to pull the filter and make sure the previous filters gasket didn't stay.

Check the plug. It could be loose or cross threaded. Also, check your filler cap and dip stick. Might be dripping from somewhere other than the filter and pan

Clean everything off underneath and park over a piece of clean cardboard. If it shows oil keep looking.

If you have a skid plate they probably spilled oil all over the place. I also had one of those places not tighten the drain plug enough causing a a leak.
