OT Lounge equivalent for University of Arkansas

Honestly, probably this site. TD kind of connects all the SEC masses, does it not?

People don't really grasp how old and out of date this form of communication is; it is essentially non-existent to all but legacy people under 30, who found it via older family and associates.

We might as well be a retirement home, when it comes to how people of that age talk about sports, communities, and even just shoot the breeze.

A truck with 80K on shouldn’t give menu problems at all. When in an unfamiliar locale, I have typically just used Yelp website which has been very dependable. I also think there is an o-t lounge for the SEC associated with this site.

Trying to track down a good local mechanic shop as I won't be able to service her vehicle from 10 hours away.

If I were some sort of degenerate, I would say "I am sure there will be plenty of guys on campus who will be happy to service her"

But I am a decent guy and the OT is a very classy place, so I will not say that.

Unfortunately that has not been the case thus far, I wish it were. Thankfully we did inherit a Ford extended warranty with the truck that has helped for some things ($3k sunroof repair and 3 leaking plastic oil pans). But it expires next year and hasn't covered some failures.

Thanks all for the recs so far I will follow up on them when we go to Fayetteville next week.

You aren't going to find an equivalent that is populated by college age kids-- sorry, but being on the OT is going to date you by decades.

Yeah it was pretty tightly interwoven with students from around 2005-2010, maybe 2015. After then the influx of current students was reduced to a trickle.

Back in the early days there was a lot of posts relevant to happenings on the campus and area itself. Now, not so much. Message boards are just a very antiquated form of social media.

Your best bet is to try looking for a group on social media like discord which is connected to her major. A quick google indicates there isn’t a good equivalent generally to the OT.

there’s a group on there for incoming freshman that the parents use for all types of questions.

How sad that kids are so reliant on their parents in college. I messed up my car a few times and I looked a place up and called to see if theyd take the car or asked friends/coworkers.

I think every SEC fanbase outside of LSU fans that has stumbled upon TD probably wishes they had an OT equivalent for their site but not sure anything else out there comes close. Case in point, Tidefans is an absolute joke for Bama fans.

There was a point where this was true and fans from all over the SEC had a tendency to linger. We’ve even picked up out of conference posters as a result of high profile games like vs Ohio State.

It’s why we actually have versions of the Rant for every school in the SEC.

But as another poster put: message boards as a medium are pretty much dead. This is one of the stronger ones but I think it’s mostly that of momentum. As active as it is, it has slowed a lot from its peak in 2010-2015.

This. That's why so many of us have migrated here. Good work by the TD crew to make the site attractive to non-LSU fans.

Get her a 4 runner and your worry will be reduced to oil changes and tires.

Trust Grease Pig in Fayetteville for oil changes and advice on who to use for other issues besides oil changes, etc

Don't trust Seeburg. Don't trust Firestone. Don't trust "Christian based" Christian Bros Automotive. Don't trust Big O Tire. I hope they're all reading this.

Norm The Tire Man is great in Bentonville. Discount Tire is okay.

I don't have any good info beyond that
